Hey! It's April 15th and I'm home before midnight! Long before midnight... Yay!!

Tax time, tax time... it's officially over for me, even though I'll still have to work a total of 4 days over the next 2 weeks. But I won't be busy at all... I love my job, but I'm so tired...

Twenty five more days until Thomas' due date. At this point, I'd pop this big balloon with a huge straight pin if I could find one... [Big Grin]

And finally... May 19th is the last day of school for the kiddos.

Hmmm...timed everything about right, didn't I? [Razz]

Well, if you need any help, send me an e-mail and I'll send you my phone number.

Have I mentioned that I highly recommend H&R Block's online tax service? Free to poor people? Really simple and easy to do.

Hey! Quit using those dirty words in my threads! [Wink]

I'm much nicer than anyone at H&R, and I'm cool enough to know about Hatrack! [Razz]

I work for Jackson Hewitt.

BTW, if you are old enough, young enough, or qualify for EIC, you can use Turbo Tax for the Web and e-file for free.

I'm afraid of even LOOKING at my taxes this year.

So scan your stuff and send it to me. I'll look... [Big Grin]

Seriously though, it may not be as bad as you think. You never know...

Both HR's software and TurboTax have screwed up my electric vehicle credit. TurboTax screwed me worse, because instead of acknowledging that they had no info and I had to go find my own and file on paper, they gave me wrong info, costing me a $900 credit--not deduction, credit--I should have had. Now this year I get to try to claim an extra $900 from last year.

Gah!

I guess this is just my night to be frustrated.

Anyhow, I've already filed for my extension.

Last chance: I'm going to bed in half an hour.

Anyone?

our CPA already filed our extension. We're cool.

Thing is, we'll prolly get a refund, she just didn't have time to get to it. So it's not like we're trying to put off paying or anything.

I expect two or three grand back.

Makes me look pretty stupid for not filing earlier, neh?

I feel lucky mine are simple this year. Though last year was a mess. Then again, income was better last year.

Ahhhhhhhhhh. [Smile] I got $1130 and change back this year. It's a nice return when your average income is below the poverty line.

Mackillian, if you're still in the years of simple taxes, no worries about deadlines. Last year I filed in July and I still got my full refund, no penalties. It cost $14 through EZefile.com.

I already have my federal refund back... State's not here yet, 'cause I couldn't e-file due to a weird property tax thingie. But I spent my lunch hour yesterday at the jewelry store, deciding where my 10% frivolous money was going.

Really, I need to change my withholding so I don't get so much back. But it's between diamond earrings and a KitchenAid food processor.... it's so much fun!

Anyway, Boon, glad you can rest. [Smile]

We ended up having to pay about $600 this year. Next year should be better though, since we'll have bought a house by then.

Hey, Boon, what kind of documentation do I need to do of my cheritable giving? I've never worried about it before, because as a renter it didn't make sense to itemize. Now, though, I think it will. I haven't kept any records for the year so far, but I do know how much I've spent on it per month.

I was net payer - refund on fed, payment on state. Stupid no-capital-gains-rate for state taxes. [Mad]

Dagonee
Edit: Just found out my refund is being deposited today. You can check this at Where's my Refund?

I'm getting a huge refund on state tax which is more than canceled out by a huge payment on federal tax. [Smile]

Somehow, even though I'm in the days of simple tax, I ended up OWING $320. *stabs IRS*

The IRS does not require a receipt for any single donation less than $250.

I've seen a lot of printouts from churches itemizing what date/how much, but it's really not necessary. If there's any doubt, your check register should suffice as "proof".
