I can't remember where I came across this, but I was cleaning out my old bookmarks and thought it was worth sharing.

I don't get it, and the hints link threatened my immortal soul.

quote:
"Hey Dad," I say cheerily. "What's up?"
"Hamlet," says the old man after a sigh, "you remember how I was found mysteriously dead in the orchard a couple of weeks back? Well... it's like this. Your uncle Claudius poisoned me so he could become king and marry your mother. I'd be awfully grateful if you could kill him for me."
"All right," I say, "I'll do it!"
My life suddenly seems to have purpose.

I don't recall this type of language in hamlet.

This is what claudius said when i talked to him:

quote:
"I'm glad I killed your dad!"
and when i tried to kill him:

quote:
Just as I am pulling my punch, Gertrude storms into the room.
"Hamlet!" she snaps. "How many times have I told you NOT to murder your relatives! I know it's difficult for a Shakespearian lead, but..."
I grudgingly apologise to both of them. Gertrude leaves, mollified.

It's fun to try and kill everyone you see. Just don't try to kill othello

I love that game! It took me a really long time to beat it, because I found it before the hints page was posted. To my credit, I only got one hint, about Macbeth.

I played it when plaid posted it.. I did the entire game and then I accidentally killed myself. (I didn't think it would DO it!) So I had to play the entire thing over again. Ehehe.

You know, that particular HHGTTG game is one of the great Infocom classics. [Smile] I've still got a CD full of 'em.

Oooh... you wouldn't, um, be willing to sell it, would you, Tom? (I've been trying to get Infocom collections for awhile, but they go for insane prices on eBay...)

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

Plaid, I expect that I found the game from your link. Thanks!

I'll do better than that, plaid. Since it's so thoroughly out of print, I'll burn you a copy. *laugh*

On the downside, though, there's a huge book of copyright protection information/hint guides that came with the original. I'll try to figure out how to get all that data copied.

Alternatively, you could just download any titles you're interested in from here.

There also appear to be a number of the smaller CD-ROM collections -- the ones with five or six games -- available on eBay at the moment for under $15 each.

I bought the Zork/SF collection before (it's still in print). I checked out the eBay auctions for other collections... I've looked at them sometimes and the problem with them is that the prices end up doubling or tripling at the last moment when everyone else tries to get an item, sigh...

There's a website up that's got the hints stuff -- http://www.csd.uwo.ca/Infocom/ -- so that's not a problem... so if you feel OK about burning a copy for me Tom I'd love to get one and I'll send you a bunch of cashew butter or something like that for your trouble...

I manage to grab one of the bats. Then - ouch! The blighter bit me! I teach it a lesson by bashing its little head in.
Alarmed, all the other bats flutter away.
