"Clan of the Cave Bear" has long been one of my favorites. So finally I decide that it's a good idea to read the rest of the series. My mistake. I don't mean to sound snarky, but the woman rides on a lion, for land's sakes, and the last 40 pages were soft porn. Has anyone else had the experience of reading book #1, then finding out that the rest of the books are terrible? I thought this about "The Mists of Avalon" series too. Loved the first one, then they just got progressively stranger and worse.

I really liked the whole Mist of Avalon series.

Haven't read the Clan of the Cave Bear series, but the series was recommended to me by a friend.

Read only 2 books in that series. The first was ok... but the second... That spear guy is a loser! All he knows how to do is deflower girls and make spears. That's it. Ayla can tame lions and horses and make them live together and she knows about the birds and the bees. She's survived so much. Why does she need a boring guy like him?
At least Merry in the Merry Gentry series has several men that are her equal and so does Anita instead of some boring and dull guy who just chips rocks all day.
