This may sound a little weird, but I've always wanted to compose music for video games. Does anyone know how to get into that?

Have a large portfolio. Do lots of music for its own sake, then offer to synch it for free/shareware. Then get either a reputation, a personal "in", or a big piece of luck. The number of people it takes to do a wide swath of game music is surprisingly small especially compared with the talent pool of electronic musicians in this electronic age, so you'll need it

I'd second the freeware/shareware idea. It would also help to team up with a budding animator and score some cartoons - it would be a good way for both of you to build a portfolio.

You might also consider licensing it under the creative commons license . . . they'll publicize anything under that license which gets used moderately prominently (such as in freeware/shareware) all around the geekiverse.
