Sudan on the Human Rights Committee again...

I don't know what to say to this. On the one hand, it's deeply disturbing that Sudan can use us as an excuse. On the other hand, it's equally disturbing that Sudan is willing to use us as an excuse instead of trying to one-up us.

And on the third hand, do we really want to trust a UN that does things this way?

We do things in this country that way. It's called representative democracy, and it involves the majority electing people that not every minority is going to agree with.

We also exclude people from office when they're blatantly unqualified, though clearly there are some holes.

No we don't - we clearly elect extremely unqualified people all the time. You can even run for office from prison.
