You come from a hard dull day's work. You're tired and just want to veg out so you turn on the television.
There's nothing but crap and reruns on. All of the commercials are so irratating you twitch in annoyance.
What ever happened to good television shows? Most of the good programs are being replaced with lame reality shows based on desception, greed and vindictiveness. It's all about winning money at any cost, even if you have to tell your parents that you're marrying a moronic pig. Even if y ou have to kick people off an island or sleep with random people you just met 24 hours ago.
I can't stand television. It's so simple to just turn it off and not bother with it but I keep HOPING beyond all logic that SOMETHING good will be on. That this show that seems lame and stupid will turn out to be a masterpiece.
I'm always disapointed.

Television is just a distraction from what I'd rather do: Read. I love books. I always have since I was a little kid.
Most books are deep and fascinating, filled with interesting characters that drag me into their stories. Usually I can't put books down. I take them with me into the bathroom, I read them in the kitchen while trying to cook.
Books take more of my attention than movies do. I fall into them so deeply it's like sleep, like dreaming.
It's hard to pull myself away from them and wake up to the so-called real world. The world in books is just as real to me with its tastes, smells and colours.
I could go from reading of a young girl growing up in South Carolina, paralelled in another book about another young girl of a different race growing up in the deep south. I can read a light book that has me laughing until I ache.
Even bad books can be somewhat entertaining, telling me how NOT to write or books by authors with different points of view. It shapes my own.
Watching television for an hour makes me feel warn out and stupid.
Reading most books makes me wish they'd never end. Especially The Golden Compass.

Not all television shows are bad. I love the Simpsons, South Park, nature shows, Sopranos and Queer as folk.
Some of which I cannot watch because I don't have cable. Cable is such a waste of money. Nothing but repeats one after another. MTV hardly plays any music. Neither does VH1. I refuse to pay over 50 dollars a month for the game show network and old episodes of Gilligan's Island or Mash.
Sure, you can see movies on cable, but it's much better to just get Netflix and get movies you actually WANT to see.
Plus the money for cable or satellite television is better spent on broadband internet connection.

You should watch comedy, like Seinfeld or say, Everybody Loves Raymond. Conan O'Brien is really funny too [Cool]

*twitch* I hate Seinfeld and Everybody Loves Raymond. Those shows drive me up a tree... Especially Raymond. He acts like such a jerk. Taping over his wedding... For a stupid football game... Arg. And his wife is such a... she drives me up a tree with all her nagging.

It drives me crazy. Just watching five minutes of it. All they do is complain about their sex lives, their jobs, breaking up with people over little things like wearing ugly jackets and making funny noises.
Then only episode I liked of that show was the one on masturbation. That episode was amusing.
Other than that....

Seinfeld has to be the most boring show I've ever had the displeasure of watching.
