I was riding my scooter down by my school and something caught my eye. A girl was sitting next to a bus stop wearing an Endercon tshirt! I recognized her after taking a better look. It was Miro.

I stopped and said hi. It was cool cuz I had never randomly run into a hatracker before.

Anyway, that's it.

I wish I lived in a city large enough for cool stuff to happen.

Awesome! I didn't know she lived in your town!

[Wave]

I thought it was my town.

Very cool.

Actually, all of Northern Virginia, DC and a small piece of West Virginia belong to me.

And Maryland belongs to Karl Ed, so don't ask.

Scott R,
If that's true, come on down to Woodbridge and mow this grass! I am not mowing it for you! [Big Grin]

I was born in Maryland, and I have peeps in Northern Virginia- my favorite oxymoron.

Posted by MyrddinFyre (Member # 2576) on :

I love when that happens! [Big Grin]

Posted by Scott R (Member # 567) on :

DawnMaria: I am sending a gazillion cicadas to Woodbridge for that very purpose.

They should arrive within a week.

Posted by dawnmaria (Member # 4142) on :

Ya know, I haven't seen a one yet even though the news keeps warning me there everywhere! I feel gyped!

Posted by Scott R (Member # 567) on :

You can hear them in Reston. Very neat sounding. I haven't seen too many though.

We have a friend in Arlington who said they're really bad in her neighborhood.

You know they've been declare a hazard to children due to the number of ER visits that have been caused by children trying to either run from them or kill them in inventive* ways.

*Such as placing one, by hand, under the wheel of a moving car, baseball bats, etc.

The house of a former next door neighbor, who now lives a few miles away, is literally covered, top to bottom, in cicadas. I, on the other hand, haven't seen a single one in my neighborhood.

Hey, what about that time you were visiting Myr and you ran into me and Suneun and Beca at Club Hell? That was pretty random. And cool. [Smile]

There were many many cicada's in the room I slept in Saturday night, also a few hatrackers. Hmm

Living as I do in a land cicadas love, lemme tell ya: they don't sound too interesting at all.

Dawnmaria,

Whereabouts in Woodbridge are you? I grew up in Lake Ridge, and moved out toward Manassas right before HS (~12 years ago). Not there anymore though. It's a shame, as there seem to be a lot of us in the DC area.

::wonders why I didn't realize Miro lived in the Washington, D.C. area::

For some reason, I thought she lived in the midwest. [Smile]

Happy Camper,
I live close to Woodbridge Senior High. I can watch their crew practice rowing from my back deck. Man they can yell! I hope to be moving down to Stafford within the next year. We're building a house with a lot more room. I have no idea where we'll put a baby in November in this place!

Wow, that's close to where I was. I was a little farther north, lived right by the Lake Ridge Community Swim Club. WSHS would have been my base school had I been in that house during High School (I say base school because I went to TJ). Crazy.

I met Jon Bon Jovi and Cary Elwes the other day. That was pretty cool too.

Are you serious, or joking?

Ah, crap. You've got me there.

Same question went through my head, Raia. [Smile] Well, first it was, "Really? Was Cary Elwes as chubby in real life as his character looked in Ella Enchanted?" and then I realized I wasn't sure if he was serious.

Posted by odouls268 (Member # 2145) on :

If youre talking to me raia, im serious

Posted by hansenj (Member # 4034) on :

Well then, was Cary Elwes as chubby in person as his character looked in Ella Enchanted? [Smile]

Posted by Raia (Member # 4700) on :

*JEALOUS* Odouls, that's awesome! I'm SO jealous!!

Posted by Ryuko (Member # 5125) on :

[Big Grin] Cary Elwes, really?

and yes, he's got some girth on him since the old days...

Posted by odouls268 (Member # 2145) on :

Not so much when I met him.

Posted by odouls268 (Member # 2145) on :

He's a really laid back softspoken guy. knows alot about military history. Brilliant guy.

Posted by Ryuko (Member # 5125) on :

Where'd you get the opportunity?

Posted by hansenj (Member # 4034) on :

Cool! [Big Grin] That's just how I would imagine him to be.

Posted by odouls268 (Member # 2145) on :

I was in a movie with them.

Posted by odouls268 (Member # 2145) on :

And actually a couple days after filming, I ran into Bon Jovi again at a movie theater.

"You can hear them in Reston. Very neat sounding. I haven't seen too many though."

Last saturday when I emerged from our house those things had just emerged from wherever it is they emerge and literally covered up all of our plants...they had this fresh/slimy look to them that indicated they had just hatched.

I live in McLean, except when I'm down in Charlottesville for school. Two more years left of that.

The cicadas are loud here - it sounds like Star Trek TOS cheesy phaser effects.
