So, which were your child's first words ?

My daughter's first word was "woof" because she liked doggies. My son's first word was "boy-y-y-y-y."

My second son's first word was "alligator."

Of course, he pronounced it "A-gah."

Well, I don't have any kids, but my first word was "ball". I had this blue ball that I used to take with me everywhere. It was in almost every one of my baby pictures.

My brother's first words was actually a sentence. "This tastes yucky."

I think mine was "No."

I don't know that Mom ever told me my first words, but the first sentence I put together was "I want down, my mommy." Go figure.

Daddy...

I'm fairly sure that my baby cousin Kadin's first recognisable word was "duck" - referring to a soft toy duck I'd just bought him.

Christian's was "baby".

I don't know what Rayne's were...she babbled from day one. The babble sort of evolved into recognizable words sometime last year, and now she's talking in simple sentences. It's very fun to hear what she's thinking.

My first word was reportedly "fwuck" (truck). Only sometimes when I said it, I would omit the r/w sound altogether . . . or so I've been told.

My oldest's first was "Daddy"; and I believe that was my son's as well. My youngest's was "no."

My daughters first word was probably Dad, but before you get the impression that I am bragging about how much she loved me I need to tell you that her first sentence was "Go Away Dad".

My sons first word was Look. He would point and say Look at everything. He just learned how to say "Uh-Oh" a couple of days ago and that is a fun one. He doesn't seem too interested in talking. He communicates by us asking him questions and him nodding or shaking his head and grunting with either an affirmative or negative sound.

I think mine was "bugs" because of a "plague" of grasshopppers that hit Edmonton, Alberta at about the time I was learning to talk. Apparently they were so thick that they had to fly out of the way of your feet as you walked on the sidewalk. Yuck!

It was either that or "rocks."

My first word was "flower" after my dad took me walking through one of the Boston parks on a spring day (I lived in Cambridge until I was about 1 1/2).

mine was "hi"

i have a video tape of myself at a ridiculously young age saying "hi" over and over...and over...and over...

My daughter's was debatable. She really used "dogdog" a lot (word so cool, she had to use it twice). She also said Iiiiiii really loudly at the appropriate time during the Tigger song. Is that a word?

One of the first sentences my daughter put together was "Daddy no talk-a Mommy!" one night when she wanted all the attention. [Smile]

My first word was "Hot". Clearly laying the groundwork for the lady's man I am today.

My son said dada last night. It's possible he's just trying out new sounds and has no idea what's he doing, but I prefer to think otherwise.
