At the top of www.cnn.com there is a header saying that Tenet, the CIA has been asked for his resignation by the Pres. I wasn't aware of any major scandal involving him at the moment. Was my head in the sand?

I think they wanted to do it now before the campaigns get into full swing. I haven't heard anything new.

My header on CNN just says he is resigning -- not that he is being asked to resign.

I wonder if this has something to do with the Chalabi thing..

My bad, Farmgirl, Bush just announced it. I thought he had requested it.

Ohh! Job opening! Where do you think I should send my resume?

(Correct answer: no where, they already have it.)

The news I read said he was resigning for "personal reasons." A few days ago, Al gore made a speech regretfully calling for his resignation, but in stronger terms calling for the resignation of Rumsfeld, Rice, et. al. Perhaps he is just trying to get the ball rolling.

Yeah, personal reasons is about all their saying now that they posted more to the story:

Tenet resigns as CIA director

quote:
He had faced heavy criticism over the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington, and on the war in Iraq, in which pre-invasion U.S. estimates that Iraq was amassing stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction now appear to have been incorrect
