So this Friday is National Day of Mourning for President Reagan. That means all federal offices will be closed.

You would think my bank would be too -- but we will be open. Regular hours. Because the Federal Reserve (which isn't a government or federal office) is open, so banking is as normal.

Thought for a bit I might get an extra day off. Oh well..

I'll be it will be a very slow day.

Do any of you work in government facilities that will get the day off?

Yup. Even way out here in the boonies we're getting the day off.

Yep. I'm a government contractor. I haven't heard official word if this means I have to use up another vacation day. I may have the day off.

Of course, if essential personnel are required to be here, I'm hosed.

I've got the day off, but I'd already planned to be "sick" this friday so it doesn't make much difference for me.

I not sure how close to the government you have to be to qualify for the day off.

On our internal web site, it just says:
quote:
FYI: Friday has been designated as a national day of mourning and all federal offices, including the post office, and major financial markets, will be closed. [our] Bank will be open regular hours to serve our customers, as will the Federal Reserve.

I need to work for the post office....

The national office for the Boy Scouts is still open.

I think that it's up to your company or whoever manages your contract unless you are an actual government employee. I know a couple of people who work for gov't contractors who've been told that as long as they clock 40 hours this week, they don't have to come in on Friday.

Well, I was planning on taking Friday off anyway.

But. This doesn't mean this is going to be an annual thing, does it? And is the death of an ex-president that big of a thing anyway? Seems odd (to me) to have a national day of mourning over it. It's not like he was shot or anything. Recently.
