You heard me! Johann Strauss's Waltz The Pleasure-Train is one darn fine piece of music and I think everyone should hear it.

For my birthday last week I got 5 CDs of Viennese philharmonics, state operas and pianists preforming Strauss (all three of the Strauss family) and I've bcome obbsesed. I was telling Annie last night, for the first time in my life a major goal has involved travel: I now want to go to Vienna and hear Strauss played before I die.

The Viennese are the only ones who really understand how to play a waltz, it has to do with slightly different timing and the accent on the second beat, but if you want to hear a good waltz the best place to find one is Vienna.
