Ray Charles, the Grammy-winning crooner who blended gospel and blues in such crowd-pleasers as "What'd I Say" and ballads like "Georgia on My Mind," died Thursday, a spokesman said. He was 73.

My son listens to his song that was part of the Blues Brothers soundtrack "Shake Your Tail Feather" every day because he loves that song. He will be so sad to hear this.

Thanks, Chris. I saw the news just before I came and saw your posting.
My personal favorite Ray Charles tune was "I'm Busted."
Sad news - I expect there will be lots of eulogies and dedications by various performers at the Blues Festival this weekend.

Ray Charles' music always reminds me of my grandfather. I used to listen to my grandpa's records a lot when we were at his house, that's where I first heard a lot of the jazz, blues, and big band music that I love so much now.
What a sad, sad thing.

I love the song about the baby grand piano that he recorded with Billy Joel.
It seems like a lot ends or disappears with his passing, doesn't it?

I didn't see this earlier; I'm glad it wasn't glossed over.
To me, as a jazz and blues fan, I was more saddened by the news of Ray Charles's death than Ronald Reagan's.
Time to go dig up and play my blues CDs...

Somewhere in Heaven, they are structurally reinforcing a cloud to hold up a baby grand piano.
Thanks for everything Ray, we're all going to miss you.
