Cool. We should all go to one of her shows as a hatrack meet. She should be able to say hi after the show...

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

Great idea!

Posted by Suneun (Member # 3247) on :

I'm assuming Dragon's in the full tour, so here is the schedule...

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

I'd say hit up one of the Manchester, NH dates as it's only 45 min from you Boston folks and we can hang at my place after or go out to dinner or whatever.

Posted by Suneun (Member # 3247) on :

That would probably work for me.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Very cool!

Posted by Mike (Member # 55) on :

Sweet! [Smile] I am totally up for a hatrack smirkus expedition.

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

Okay. Does this mean I'm doing the planning?

Posted by Mike (Member # 55) on :

Yes. [Big Grin]

Though, I'd like to voice a preference toward the Saturday 7pm show. Cause I'm teaching trapeze earlier in the day and I might be teaching another class on the Sunday.

Posted by Suneun (Member # 3247) on :

Excellent. This definitely sounds like a good plan [Wink]

Posted by Suneun (Member # 3247) on :

* cough cough*

July 10th at 7 pm. Are you still coming, Mack?

Anyone else? Bueller?

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

Ha! Told you it was in July, Jamie. [Wink]

Posted by Mike (Member # 55) on :

Saturday July 10 at 7pm, indeed. I will be there. So are we meeting before the show and doing dinner? Or some such?

Posted by Synesthesia (Member # 4774) on :

I would like to go...
Hmm... but it might not be possible... Dang..

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

Yes, why don't we do that. What time would be good for everyone? We can meet at my apartment and head off for dinner. But I think the travellers need to set said time.

Posted by dabbler (Member # 6443) on :

oh I think I can make it there whenever is best. Since the show starts at 7, we should probably hit dinner around 5 at the latest. Or we could just bring some foods and picnic near the tent site at 5:30'ish.

I wanna hear from all those Boston/Providence/Greater-Mass folks out there. Paul? Bok? Martha? Paul, you could drag your roommate along as well [Smile]

Syn, would you need a ride? If Mike and I end up picking Martha up, we'd be hitting Boston area.

Posted by Synesthesia (Member # 4774) on :

Yes, I would need a ride, also, how much would the show cost?

Posted by dabbler (Member # 6443) on :

Looks to be $15 in advance. We could definitely do the cheaper picnic-outside option.

Posted by Synesthesia (Member # 4774) on :

Hmmm... 15 dollars is a lot for me...
But... I'll consider, as the time is not a Broke Fortnight.

Posted by Bokonon (Member # 480) on :

No can do. Wedding ceremony/reception scouting and all that.

The rest of you, however, ought to go! And someone have cotton candy for me [Smile]

-Bok

Posted by MyrddinFyre (Member # 2576) on :

Hmmm, July tenth...

(pssssst--- congrats Bok!!)

Posted by Suneun (Member # 3247) on :

it's a big drive up, Myr. Of course you can come to Providence and drop off your car to come with us. If you want, you can crash at my place that night and drive back Sunday. I have a new apartment =)

*slight bump*

I just saw the Smirkus show yesterday afternoon. [Big Grin] Good stuff. Talked to Dragon briefly during intermission and told her to expect some hatrackers next weekend.

That is all.

Posted by Dragon (Member # 3670) on :

Thanks Mike. [Smile]

You might want to arrive at the tent closer to 6 than 7 because it's open seating... but Mike can tell you that.

See you on Saturday! (and yes, there is a meet and greet in the ring after the show)

[Wave]

*kicks Bok and Paul for being total dweebs* Oh well. What can you do with dweebs.

Still haven't heard from Kris, but Mike and I are bringing a couple people up. Kwea, is it too far for you?

This saturday!

Still tickets? Time?

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

Seven. still tix. I haven't gotten mine yet. [Eek!]

And get up here whenever you can is the time, too.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Not too far, just not a good time for JenniK and me. We just got back from MI last night at 3 am, after a hellish 19 hour drive; damn Canadians have no concept of traffic management...lol!

I am probably working this weekend, and since I had 10 days off for vacation I can't afford to take any more time off right now. JenniK is working too, so I think we will pass.

I really wanted to go too, but real life sucks sometimes.

Dragon, I'm not sure how to wish you luck, as break a leg may not be appropriate for a circus... [Big Grin]
Best wishes, and I'm sure you will be great.

Thanks for the invite though! Hope to see you all at the WMASS Picnic (Aug. 21st) soon!

My daughter, in particular, would love this. We always take our son to see/hear musicians, but she has no interest in it, except for Donna the Buffalo, Kiss, Aerosmith, Avril, and American Idol folks. Her thing is drama and musical type productions. So, she would love this circus. My son as well, and if they could get Dragon's signature, they would be flying high!

Posted by Suneun (Member # 3247) on :

You should definitely try and come. Your kids will be so amazed at Circus Smirkus. And they can meet most of the troupe after the show.

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

Yes! Come up!

UPDATE: Guys, Email or IM mackillian your final plans for the picnic tomorrow okay? [Smile]

Ah, poop on a stick! Can't go. Birthday party and last coach pitch baseball game.

Posted by Mike (Member # 55) on :

OK, we're planning on getting to Manchester around 5ish and going directly to the box office to get tickets. Cause I'm dumb and I waited too long to get them online or by phone. Then I guess we'll (hang around|eat food) until it's time to find our seats.

Oh, and I'm sad that all y'all who can't make it tomorrow can't make it. [Cry]

Posted by Suneun (Member # 3247) on :

We'll probably figure out tonight what kind of foods we're bringing tomorrow. Egg salad, chicken salad, bread, fruit.. something along those lines. You're free to eat any of our stuff, Mack, or bring your own.

If you'd like, Mike can call you when we get near town so you don't have to guess when we'll be there. e-mail or AIM him your #. (eeew, AIM as a verb)

It was an incredible show. I saw Big Apple circus this last week too, and Smirkus was a much better show. Dragon did some awesome juggling! We got to say 'hey' during intermission, and found half the Smirkos (including Dragon) hard at work doing conditioning exercises! Whew.

There's a lot of energy and talent. The only downside is that the mosquitos came out in full force for the last ten minutes of the show. But hey, small price to pay. And from Providence, it was a quick (hour and a half) ride to see them. If anyone else from New England wants to see them this summer, I'm sure we'd be willing to meet you there.

[Frown] Long story. IM me.

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

Maybe Sunday, Dragon. A lot depends on cash flow. Gas is so freaking expensive that I actually have to think before even going to see my grandmother in Newburyport. We are headed out for an expensive five day festival experience next week, so we have to save every penny. It is our family vacation.

My kids would love to see you, though, and I will try hard to get there.

Posted by Mike (Member # 55) on :

*pokes head in*

I will be seeing the show again next weekend in Concord with my family (the Sunday 11am show), and then again on Martha's Vineyard. Yey!

Where is Hamilton MA? How far away form the Springfield area? If JenniK and I are free, we might be able to do it. I can't take any extra time off, but if i already ahve it off.... [Big Grin]

Kwea,
Hamilton is on the North Shore, up near marblehead and Beverly. It is about an hour and forty-fiv minutes from where you are.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Too far then, unless I ahve the whole weekend off. It does happen, sometimes.

After spending 19 hours in the car on the way back from MI last week, we aren't really keen on long rides anytime soon... [Big Grin]

Kwea,
Don't forget the Green River Music Festival this weekend! I will be there, and if you go, we can find a place to meet.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

What day? This weekend? We might be able to make it tonight, if that is when it is. Jenni gets out at 4:30 pm today...

Kwea

Kwea,
It is next Friday and Saturday.

http://www.greenriverfestival.com/

If you get tickets today, they are cheaper. They go up tomorrow, I think.

There are two, at least, hot air balloon launches, a morning and evening one. Great bands, and I am NOT justsaying this because Donna the Buffalo is there. The Campbell brothers are phenomenal. They play a style of music called Sacred Steel, sort of gospel with a serious edge.

Also, Gillian Welch, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Jorma Kaukonen(of Hot Tuna) to name a few.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Not really our type of music, but Jenni has it off next weekend, so it depends on my work schedual. I think I'm working. I know I am, but I don't remember when.

Maybe, if i work during the day, we caould make it up there for the evening.

Well see....( i HATED it when my mom would say that!)

I'd love to come to the picnic. I'll be gone until the 18th of August though... is it okay if I'm kind of last-minute?

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

How coukd you be last miunite? The picnic isn't until the 21 st! Are you walking there? [Big Grin]

Besides, I had you on the list (sort of) so you HAVE to come now....OK?

Seriously (sort of...again [Big Grin] ), I hope you can make it. i'm just sorry JenniK and I couldn't make one of your performances. I heard you were great...

Do me a favor and post it on the WMASS picnic thread here , so I can keep track of it all at one location...

See you there!

Kwea
