I'm sure that I could find all of this out if I sifted through the myriad threads that already exist on the subject, but since I'm both overworked and feeling lazy I'm hoping that somebody has all the information I'm after, and can just tell me.

When, exactly, is the Chicago leg of Kamacon happening? August 13th to August whath?

Who is going to be there, other than Kama?

Are there any particular events planned, or is basically just going to be a couple of days of hanging out doing whatever sounds like fun?

If it turned out, at the last minute, that I could attend after all, what are the chances that I could sleep on the floor in someone's hotel room (I'd pay for part of the bill, of course)?

I'm with Noemon on that last question. I don't think I can attend, but my ideal date for getting back to Purdue would be right before KamaCon started, and jumping on a train and going to Chicago would highly appeal to me if I do make it back then... though since Annie wont be there I would feel bad spnding money on non-Annie related travel. [Frown] [EDIT: or on travel that I haven't already promised someone I would]

August 13-15th, with some people arriving on the 11th and 12th.

Bob and I will be there. Also rivka, the Mooses, kat, AJ, and a bunch of other people, of whom I'm not sure who is confirmed and who is still "maybe."

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

What about CT, Tom, and Christy?

Posted by dkw (Member # 3264) on :

They have said they are coming, but never posted that they made hotel reservations.

Call 'em strong probables.

Thanks!

I'd love to be able to make this one. It's still unlikely that I will--I'm probably going to be in Mexico during it--but there is a chance that I'll be in the US at that point, and that I'll have time to drive to Chicago.

If I can't think of something more important to do with this voucher before it expires on 7/7, I'll be there.

Posted by Kama (Member # 3022) on :

Well, Frisco had better be there, since he'll be driving me.

Unless we get sidetracked and go to Vegas to get married.

Posted by dkw (Member # 3264) on :

That would be one heck of a sidetrack.

Better off just overshooting a little and going to Minnesota. Eljay's licensed to officiate at weddings there.

Which hotel will this be at exactly?

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

The details are in here, Telp.

[Smile] Does that mean you're coming??

Posted by Telperion the Silver (Member # 6074) on :

Hopefull yes! [Big Grin]

I'll just show up and I can sleep in my truck. :-) Just as long as someone let's me use their shower!

Posted by dkw (Member # 3264) on :

No, the deadline is a month from today. [Smile]

Christy and I have hotel reservations.

Posted by beverly (Member # 6246) on :

*sigh* I'd love to go. But I just can't justify spending the money to get our whole family out there. Too far to drive, too expensive to fly. [Frown]

So, does anyone know a good place to get a sandwich, either near the Holiday Inn in Skokie or in the vicinity of the Magnificent Mile?

Posted by Lalo (Member # 3772) on :

If it turns out I can't make it -- through some horrible accident or alien abduction -- you're welcome to take my bed. Be warned, though, Frisco's in the room, and he doesn't shower. And he molests cattle. When he's not out kicking over orphans and poking baby seals with those sharp metal combs you saw Fonz-wannabes using in the 70's.

...and Kama grows steadily less attracted to Frisco, and Lalo's appeal grows steadily in her mind, and armed with this kind of insidiousness, how soon before Lalo RULES THE WORLD???

He has a day. Can't you count... wait... since when does a year have 15 months... [Confused]

Hobbes, you're welcome to crash in our room if by some fluke of fate you get to come. Actually, that invitation extends to everyone I've met at wenchcon. Anyone else, I'd have to meet ya first but then I'd probly let you crash anyway.

If i can get ken to reserve the room, that is.

Ni!

Thanks! [Big Grin] I'd love to come, we'll just have to wait and see if it's possible.

So, is that a no on the sandwiches?

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

Noemon! Let's hang out in Mexico while all these dorks are in Chicago!

While I am licensed to officiate at weddings, Minnesota has a 5 day waiting period for a license. So if you're in a hurry, Vegas might still be a better bet.

Of course, I'd love to marry you. [Wink]

Saxon, define sandwich.

I'm trying to remember what the name of this pizza palace is that we go to on the mile. It has murals of world dignitaries eating meat. Like Reagan and Gorbachev carving a picnic roast together. And in the back of the dining room is a mysterious stairway coated in leopard skin. I'm not making this up. And they play movies, we saw "Coming to America" there one time.

I think Chicago is more famous for hot dogs, though. There was a PBS documentary about Vienna Beef. Their dogs are apparently made of meat [Eek!]

My plans are still twisting slowly in the wind. But if I do wind up coming, there will be at least 3 seats available in my van from Utah. If I bring the Aerostar.

Hey Hobbes- If you need a free ride from Chicago to Purdue I can provide that. It's right on the way and I'd like to take a look at it anyway- to make up for not going to orientation.

Posted by saxon75 (Member # 4589) on :

Define a sandwich? Seriously?

Posted by BannaOj (Member # 3206) on :

Saxon, Skokie has dime a dozen Jewish delis, and if they can't make a mean sandwich I don't know who can. We are gonna be in CHICAGO You can get any food in the world you want there nomatter how rare if you are willing to pay. And given that sandwich shops are relatively common I wouldn't worry.

Blacwolve, I would love that. [Big Grin] I don't really think I'll make it back in time, but as soon as I know either way I'll tell you. And if I do make it I would be happy to give you a tour of Purdue in exchange for the ride. [Cool]

I've been wanting to go to Reza's middle eastern food, they are supposed to have some of the best kabobs in the world.

Well if you do ever make it to GayLord's (as I recall, it's just a little North West of the main downtown area) get the Chicken Tika Mausala. Everything there was great but that dish just blew me away.
