DES MOINES (AP) -- A Taco Bell employee in Des Moines says she was assaulted with a Chalupa.

Police say they are investigating the incident that happened Thursday night when a disgruntled customer allegedly threw a taco at the employee.

Christopher Lame was accused of simple assault for throwing the Chalupa at employee Nancy Harrison.

Police say 24-year-old Lame walked into the business after he purchased tacos through the drive-thru. When he asked Harrison to correct the order, she asked for a receipt. Lame allegedly became upset, walked back to his vehicle and returned with the tacos.

Police say Harrison told Lame the business was closing. Lame allegedly threw the Chalupa at Harrison, hitting her near the eye.

Harrison ran after Lame and wrote down his license plate number.

Police say Lame was issued a criminal citation.

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't like getting hit in the eye with a chalupa. [Wall Bash]

I wouldn't like having my order screwed up and then being told they were closing.

I wouldn't throw a chalupa at them, but still.

I came close to this type of upset this past Wednesday evening.

Here was the scenario:

Kids and I walk into Wendy's. First, ditzy girl behind cash register says "for here or to go?" (okay - she ASKED).

I say, "for here." (I don't like to eat while driving)

she says, "really? we close in five minutes!"

I say, "what time is it?" (learn it is 9:55)

I point out, "but your drive thru is open until midnight, so you will still be here...."

she gives me exasperated look.

I say, "okay, to go then."

She takes order.

I hand her my debit card.

She swipes it once, proclaims that it doesn't work and is denied.

(Remember - I work at the bank)

I say, "try typing in the number -- sometimes the swipe strip doesn't read the first time. I just used it at an ATM, so I know how much is in the account."

She, exasperated with me again, says, "Don't you just have any cash?"

I say, "just try the card again -- type it in."

she: "I don't know how to do that."

I'm getting pretty upset with her by this time. I turn to my oldest son, and say, "you have a $20, and I'll just pay you back at the ATM?"

He hands her the $20 bill. She DROPS IT INTO THE SAFE before even punching it into the cash register to figure change.

Then she says, "oh -- wait I think it took your debit card..or something... I don't understand what's it's saying."

I say, "then give me back the $20"

she can't do that.

I finally get a manager over there. She clears out order entirely, starts over, puts in my debit card (punches it in), which goes through fine. And then I have to explain to her that she has to open the drop safe and get that $20 bill back to us. She does.

(Long past the 10 PM closing time by now).

We get our food, ditzy girl follows us to door and locks it behind us.

We sit on the tailgate of my truck right outside the door, purposely eating our food while staring at them inside.....

some people make you want to hit them with a bowl of Wendy's chili...

Fortunately, Taco Hell and Wender's have very good help down here... I've never been to one that gave me trouble.

McD's or Burger King, on the other hand... [Mad]

The customer obviously lost control because years of eating Taco Hell caused him to contract Mad Cow.
Or the pain of going through life with the last name Lame caused him to crack.

The Google ad for this thread is for a 99-cent taco holder. Can't say that I've ever had trouble holding a taco.

The things you learn at Hatrack...

Frisco, I have some of those. They're useful for two things. One, holding multiple taco shells to allow for assembly of three tacos at once. Two, and far more importantly, kids. 'Nuff said.
