Why does it sound completely different than the CD version? To me, CD recordings sound WAY better than live music...

Alright, I won't just point and laugh. [Laugh]

Live concerts are about the experience of being there. The music you get on a CD (unless it's a recording of a live concert) was recorded in a studio with state-of-the-art equipment.

It really depends on who you see live. An album that is over produced will make the music so polished, the original sound is lost.

I've seen some great live performances that knock their album releases on their ass. The Mars Volta, Radiohead, Deftones, Portishead, and Heiroglyphics for starters. Maybe you need to discover some new music?

Cool Nick! A lot of bands come from my little hometown called Los Angeles also. [Razz]

Well, in the case of CDs of live concerts, the recordings still go through a lot of production. Making sure the relative balance of instruments and vocals are optimized for example. Also, in most cases, dampening the audience noise is part of the preparation. (However, in cases involving audience participation, the engineers will do their best to enhance the audience chants, singing, etc.)

In most cases, the recording isn't exactly the same performance you sat and/or boogied through. [Wink]

You and your stupid LA. [Taunt]

Actually I want to live in southern California... [Frown]

EDIT: The reason I say that is because I think it's cool that a somewhat well known band is from Sacramento. Nobody cares about Sacramento. [Wink]
