I have a question about the Sacred Grove. Was there ever a sign or someone pointing out where a tree that was around during 1820 was located? Did you get any information if there was any left?

What a great trip, Dave! I half wish we had the wenchcon style narrative to go along with the illustrations, though since we don't know the people in the crew, it might not be the same.
I so want to do that some day!
And the protestors fill me with gratitude! Here they are standing outside all day long, making all that effort, because they are concerned about me. I hope the LDS just cover them up with affection and kindness.

I asked this in the picture comments, then I realized many people might not see it there, and I really am curious, so I thought I'd ask it again. Did Uncle Orson write the version of the Hill Cumorah Pageant that is currently being performed? I seem to remember reading that he was associated with it somehow. How cool is that? The script was written by Hugo and Nebula award-winning novelist Orson Scott Card. The story comes from the writings of two books, the Bible and the Book of Mormon. The musical score was crafted by renowned ASCAP award-winning composer Crawford Gates. The high-tech digital soundrecording was made in the acoustically-famed Salt Lake City Tabernacle with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, a 100 voice children's choir, and the Utah Symphony Orchestra.
BTW, someone should tell them they have "pageant" misspelled in the header.

From what I understand, there was a bit more of the grove previously, and this portion is but one section of it that wasn't cleared down (either by the Smith family, or those who came after).
The only specific tree that was mentioned was one (sadly unpictured) that grew right next to the Frame home - the tree was planted upon the death of Joseph's brother, Alvin. So at least that tree has been there since 1823.

What is actually funny about it is that, well, it IS true. God will judge me. The question is: should I, or the pencil-necked-weak-kneed-gutless-man fear God's judgement?
I don't think there are enough pejoratives on it, though. I think we should help the guy out.
