Who will this land vote for?

Good stuff, except I have 3 little kids running through the house mis-quoting the song!

Hmmm, too bad i'm not old enough to vote.

Not really; it just encourages them.

Then again, will this land be allowed to vote?

aspectre, I didn't need to read that story. Ever since they started talking about the possiblity of terrorist threats around the election, my admittedly paranoid little mind has been presenting scenarios in which those threats - not an actual attack - might be used to postpone the election if the polls weren't favorable enough to the incumbent administration as election day approaches.

Yeah, I know. Not likely. I know that intellectually. But this world is getting weird enough that I'm not prepared to dismiss any possibility at this point.

Man, everyone seems so gloomy about this cartoon. I laughed my butt off.

Two of the verses from Woody Guthrie's original that don't get sung much:

http://www.arlo.net/lyrics/this-land.shtml

quote:
As I was walkin' - I saw a sign there
And that sign said - no tress passin'
But on the other side .... it didn't say nothin!
Now that side was made for you and me!

In the squares of the city - In the shadow of the steeple
Near the relief office - I see my people
And some are grumblin' and some are wonderin'
If this land's still made for you and me.

This land is your land
this land is my land
looks like one of us
has a forged deed to this land.
