Elizabeth, who feeds me music from traveling bands -- they are on the road less traveled...again -- demands a traffic-related pun smackdown. Actually, she was a bit more than demanding. I can see the warning signs. She's in a rut. She does have soft shoulders, though (or so I'm told). I think I'll avoid reference to her dangerous curves. Her hubby is like my best unmet friend since he's the one who has to do all the work making CDs for me. Really wouldn't want to tick him off just so I could make a few cheap puns. Hmm...I think I need an EXIT strategy here.

... Guess I'll just STOP.

Okay. Look, this pun smackdown is brought to you by the number One. Way cool.

You will yield to the temptation to post here.

Maybe some other thread is more your speed?

Funny you should post this, Bob. I'm leaving tomorrow on my road trip to be Kama's tour guide in NYC. It's been anything but an idle week for me.

In an effort to make sure she doesn't hate me, I've been looking through the Kama Sutra for some Pole positions. There don't seem to be any. Guess I'll have to pedal my other wares if I'm going to get the green light. Or maybe I should just wiper out of my mind.

But whether or not sparks fly (depends on aperture, of course), we'll get to Chicago.

And you can humble me with your puns in person. [Smile]

Thankfully I found this early. I much prefer to post before this thread becomes congested. In a few short hours I surmise many will be riding this thread for all it is worth. I guess I should burn rubber and put the pedal to the medal (even tho we don't get any awards anymore).

Those that are a fan of puns but don't care to participate can still take de tour.

I'm curious if any music afficionados here know if James Taylor had a beef with Steve Winwood or Dave Mason. I was thinking about JT's condemnation of their band in his song Traffic Jam. At first glance you might think this is a tribute to their music but JT does say "Damn this Traffic Jam"

Perhaps I was a bit hasty in my previous assertion that speed was an imperative here. We could all benefit from a Sunday Drive type of thread. I think a relaxed easy going thread that doesn't rush hour pace is called for.

My friend, Lane, just lost his beloved of twenty years. He is such a Stoic, though. When I saw him, I said: "It is OK to break down, Lane. You can cry on my shoulder any day."

By the way, thank you, Bob.

This traffic pun thread is certainly not a drag. It has an air o' dynamic thought.

Actually, this thread is just a vehicle for our puns. I'm thinking wheel get tired of it before too long. Until then, I intend to get as much mileage out of it as I can.

By the way, my boss has decided to give us all snacks if we promise to stay at our desks working instead of taking so many breaks. I think she's trying to fuel efficiency.

I've told her I'm not likely to just rollover.

My friend's family is very wealthy and they have lots of hired help. My favorite of their workers is their driving man, Yul.

I was sort of hoping to steer you away from that pun. Now that you've done it, you have nothing to chauffer it.

Oh heavens, Bob, your humor is SOOOO Taxi. Mine may not be top notch, but at least it is Fare. Let me give you a tip, OK? I learned from my mom how to Stand up for myself. If you don't think so, just Checker out some time. She is a real Yeller.

Posted by Bob_Scopatz (Member # 1227) on :

Ha! At least you didn't call her "Old Yeller!" [ROFL]

I think you're just trying to say I'm a hack! But, you should know by now that DeNiro you get to categorizing me, the more likely you are to be taken for a ride.

Look, I don't wanna have to bus anyone chops, but you guys need to cool it.

I'm so awed by Elizabeth's mastery of the pun I'm contemplating keeping track of them. Yeah I'll Charter puns.

Bob, I guess all's fare in a pun smackdown.

You all have heard of park and ride, right? This is our version, it's called poke and deride.

This thread seems to have come to a screaching halt.

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

Nah, I think we can get some more mileage out of it.

Edit: Ah, heck, I see Bob used this already.

That's okay Liz, you can always backup and make a U-turn.

I feel better, thanks. I just culled a sack of blueberries from our bushes, and finished an assignment for my dead-end job.

ponch?

Damn this Traffic jam. I'm gonna head out overland. I think I can train the rest of you to follow suit. Now I'm not normally one to rant and rail but sometimes a person just has too drive the point home. I know, I know, you would rather take a cab. Whoose gonna pay the bill? I believe I've spiked my comments with plenty of fodder, so if you aren't afreight hop aboard and we'll chug cross country instead.

Ok, a little help here please. I attempt a classic derailment and no one helps.

I'm driven to distraction.
[Eek!]

Alright.... let her off easy, Carbine.

*gestures to turn down the blaring radio*

"Give us any chance, we'll take it."
"Give us any rule, we'll break it."
"We're gonna make our dreams come true."
"Doin' it our way."

Ok, now, punch it!

fallow, sometimes I wish you could be a little more concrete.

Bob, usually you are the consummate conductor of these threads. I was hoping you'd see the beauty of my tie-in. And no I'm not loco, m'motive is pure.

Sorry, I lost my choo choo of thought.

Ok, together we can get this thread going. On the count of three pull, Man pull!

The German scientist yelled in delight, "Look, I have split de cell!!"

His wife, not understanding his accomplishment, replied: "You have always been pro pain, you weirdo. You are so crude. Call Ethan, Ah'll not stand for this any longer."

hmm...

I'm getting pretty tired of this thread. The wheels' are bald. The gears have been stripped. There's a stale meat(goof)ball on the dashboard... next to the surfer-girl figurine.
