This is for real??? Really? Wow!!!

Are you still coming to the Western Massachusetts Hatrack Picnic, Engagement Party, and Mack-and-Nathan Fest?

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Are Frisco and Kama *really* getting married?

The pictures are proof.

[Dont Know]

I still bet 2 cents it's a joke, though.

First, Congrats to both of you!! Lots of love and lots of luck headed your way!

Second, Kama, I hope you're prepared for a lot of paperwork and a lot of beuareaucratic nonsense.... a friend in another group finally got clearance to emigrate to the US from England after almost 2 full years of red tape and interviews and medical exams. You will be questioned mercilessly about your reasons for moving, the nature of your relationship, your employability, all kinds of other stuff that's likely to feel like a huge huge intrusion on everything private in your life.

Sound advice for an honest, solid thread.

Ummm...isn't the engagement ring supposed to go on the LEFT hand?

Posted by fugu13 (Member # 2859) on :

I'll believe it when I see pictures of them kissing. With tongue.

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

I'll be eternally grateful if we never have to see THOSE pictures.

*glares at russell*

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Yeah. It's not clear from the thread on grenme whether they are really for true engaged or what. Plus, I know people want to keep things private sometimes, but to show NO hint of it on Hatrack at all that I can recall? No endearment? Nothing? That's just amazing. It's not impossible, but normally there are little signs of something going on long before a formal announcement. Plus, in a community like Hatrack where gossip flies faster than a really fast thing to keep it private? Amazing.

Just stating my threshhold of belief in the short term [Razz] .

I'd wager that the vast majority of things on Hatrack travel at the speed of light, at least for a time. [Razz] [Wink]

Okay, Boon said it. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.

Gossip, in Hatrack and everywhere, flies by Jane Airlines.

Jane Airlines: Takes you "Out there".

And I'm raising my bet to 4 cents.

Pssst - in many countries in Europe (and even Asia, for that matter), wedding rings are worn on the right hand.

Count me as one of the skeptical..... [Razz]

Just as a note:

I am engaged to a fellow I met on Pweb.

*grin*

EDIT: Not trying to steal any thunder, honestly!! I just realized now that I forgot to mention it earlier.

I'm very happy for you two, if this isn't a hoax. [Wink]

While Kama and Eddie -- and Kama and John, and Kama and pretty much any cool Hatracker -- would make a fantastic couple, I would be VERY skeptical of anything they say on this subject. I would, in fact, probably demand to see a notarized marriage license or something. [Smile]

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

And even then, until we saw their first born we would probably be wondering.

Wait a sec....even then, you don't have to be married....

Nevermind...

Kwea

Yay, Eaquae! That's fantastic! [Smile]

I am *very* skeptical, but if it's true, awesome! I am honored to say that I have recently met Frisco in person and he is a way cool guy.

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

I'm still torn. See, I see Frisco doing it as a joke, but not Kama. Hmmm.... and doesn't she have a boyfriend in Poland who wouldn't kill a spider or something?

Posted by Eduardo_Sauron (Member # 5827) on :

I raise my bet yet again, to 6 cents.
No wedding.

Will anyone take it? [Smile]

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Well, she should still move to the US.... [Big Grin]

Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :

moving to America
Kama, saying goodbye to your native land won't be that easy, especially once this romantic giddiness wears off.

Do you really want your children to grow up in the United States? They'll miss the language, the art, the traditions, the history, and the relatives whom you love.

Mmmm, neither one has posted again in this thread. Are they both sitting back laughing at us all?

You know, there's been this epidemic of engagements lately. CT, are you spiking the water here or something?

If you're not pulling our legs, congratulations you two!

Posted by Eduardo_Sauron (Member # 5827) on :

8 cents. I'm still raising my bet.

Posted by Javert (Member # 3076) on :

I see your bet and raise you 5 bucks. I seriously doubt that this is real, if for no other reason than I think Frisco would have gotten Kama a bigger ring! [Evil]

But, if I'm wrong, I'll be the first to congratulate them.

Say, why are we talking about Frisco and Kama when we could be rehashing Mack and Nathan's engagement? Oh, wait. No one cares any more. [Razz]

Seriously, Leto is right. The paranoia in that thread is silly. It's pretty clear to me that this thread isn't making fun of you guys. Jeez.

Posted by PSI Teleport (Member # 5545) on :

The more I think about it, the more I think that this picture is what gets me. It had the caption " This is after I told them I was taking pictures of their budding romance."

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

I think it's a fabulous idea. I always suspected Frisco would ultimately be tamed by a computer program.

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

My bad. I should really knock off the paranoia.

Posted by Taalcon (Member # 839) on :

... this is in response for my not being able to attend KamaCon, isn't it? I guess all along the plot was just to get American babies... I feel used. [Grumble]

Posted by Dan_raven (Member # 3383) on :

I would propose that we consumate this wedding story by ring-ing them up or seeing what they white.

Posted by JonnyNotSoBravo (Member # 5715) on :

It seems quite clear that KAMA has upgraded from just a computer program to a cybernetic organism - living tissue over a metal exoskeleton. The ring on the wrong hand, the too-cute-to-be-real demeanor are obviously due to the KAMA's lack of experience with real human interaction, but it will be interesting to see how KAMA adapts to the environment. Perhaps we should set up some sort of Turing test for KAMA?

Posted by Eduardo_Sauron (Member # 5827) on :

I still say not.

I would rather marry a fiance than a prankster.

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

I'm going with pranksters. John denied it was a parody, not that it was a joke. He said they were going to Las Vegas, but not once actually used the phrase "they are getting married". When John actually says "They are getting married" thats when I'll start to be suaded otherwise. [Wink]

However, if its true, then I'll look sheepish later now won't I?

Posted by Theca (Member # 1629) on :

Nah. The pics and words are too misleading.

If you mix "Dear Hatrack I'm getting married and moving to Sri Lanka" + Bob and Dana pics + Pat's Mack and Nathan thread and throw in some funny, what do you get? I'd say you get this thread. I won't call it a parody, tho, because apparently parody is a bad word.

It is an wonderful idea, though, if it were real. I'd be all excited.

Posted by Bokonon (Member # 480) on :

Personally, I think it's sad that John and Eddie have perpetrated this KAMA prank on us for so long. Don't be fooled by the graininess of the pictures folks; They just found some picture of a Polish girl on the web and photoshopped her into pictures. The static is a well known photoshop filter. After all, what's more likely, a Polish girl actually visiting all of us, or a warezed copy of Photoshop?

Occam's Razor, people! Occam's. Razor.

Posted by TMedina (Member # 6649) on :

The only part of that theory that bugs me - you can pick out a Polish girl from a distance?

Wouldn't it just have been easier to photoshop an American girl and claim she is Polish?

-Trevor

Kama: I do keep you people thinking, don't I?

Using a little bit of (pathetic) psychology: I think if Kama was really engaged, she would use the plural "us" instead of "I"

And...yes, Kama...many people are thinking very, very hard. You can almost hear the gears turning. [Wink]

Posted by TMedina (Member # 6649) on :

Sorry Kama - the married and/or dating guys are so used to having their higher brain functions turned over to their significant others, we forget how to crank the wheels ourselves.

Which is why we get into so much trouble when we do try to think - we're out of practice. [Big Grin]

Of course, if KAMA were to get married, the most brilliant cover would to make it a joke as to deflect any serious inquiries regarding hickies and such...
