I'm leaving for Oberlin on Saturday morning. I'm really excited to start school... but I'm kind of sad to be leaving behind some amazing people. I just said bye to some close friends and my dance teacher of eleven years. Leaving her is one of the hardest things to do because so much of my time was spent teaching, taking classes, or talking to her. She's awesome and I'm going to miss her a lot. I'm also going to miss my dog Piper. Tonight's my last night with him because he's going to the kennel tomorrow afternoon. I'm going to miss warming up with him. I'm all packed and ready to start a new chapter but I have a feeling the first few days are going to be difficult. Any advice on how to adjust? [Dont Know]

Don't they say that it's your college friends that will be your friends for life? Yeah, they're full of crap. You will meet people at school that, mainly due to the constant proximity, will become lifelong friends, but there's no reason not to hang on to some hisgh school friends as well.

Anyway, advice. Be yourself. Give everyone you meet a chance to be your friend. Study hard, but have fun, too. Get involved, but don't spread yourself too thin. Most importantly, know that I am full of crap, for the most part. You'll be fine. Good luck.

The best thing I can think of is in the dorm to leave your door open as much as possible. And do *not* be afraid to march right into people's rooms when their doors are open and start a conversation. It is important to know your neighbors, they're probably the people you'll be eating meals with, at least at first. It's very nice in college to have a group of people to go to the dining halls with [Smile]

I am also leaving for school, although not until the fourth. Being an introverted person, talking and meeting people is a big strain for me, so I am bracing myself for an onslaught of all the things that stress me out: Large groups of people I don't know and a lack of of quiet and privacy.

Other than that, I'm excited.
