I found out today, from a good friend of mine who works there, that the Rockford Symphony Orchestra office needs help. One of the staff has moved on, and the office is kind of in a mess right now. This lady had lots of different job duties, and my friend is confident that they would be willing to split her job up among a couple different people (which is good, because I have no desire to do any accounting work). From what I've gathered, there is at least one database to be maintained, and I guess just some general office work as well. Now, as much as I'd like to get out from behind a desk, I'm actually more interested in getting out of my current job right now. It would be wonderful to work with my friend and for the orchestra.

I've been tweeking my resumé tonight, and I think it looks pretty good - except, I can't figure out what my Objective should be. I also have no real idea about how to write a cover letter. I know that I want to stress, in my letter, that I have done extensive work in several different databases in this current job over the past several years, and that I learn quickly and am flexible, and that I would prefer to have several different job duties instead of just doing the same thing all day every day.

Can any of you give me a hand, or a little guidance? I've never done this before (I got my current job because I'd worked fo rthis office as part time seasonal help since I started college), and I'm kind of nervous. I'd really appreciate any suggestions you might have!

Sure thing, lovely lady. I'll have Dave eyeball it too.

Want to email it to me?

Sure! [Smile] I have to get to bed now, so I'll be finishing in the morning.

Umm...I don't seem to have your e-mail address. Should I use the one in your profile?

Okay, I'm falling asleep at the keyboard, and it's my own fault for not checking back often enough (but at least I was working!) - so I sent it to the address in your profile. [Smile] Thank you so much, Sara! Goodnight!

I've been unemployed for almost two years. You don't want my help. *wince*

If you'd like to email it to me as well, Vana, I'd be happy to take a look at it for you! My email is in my profile. [Smile]

Oh, Papa Moose, I'm sorry you still haven't found a job. But, you probably have a lot more experience with resumés than I do, so if you want to help, I'd gladly accept it!

Goody, your e-mail isn't actually in your profile...but if you let me know what it is, I'd be thrilled to have your help as well!

I'll take a look at it as well if you'd like, but I'm not very good with cover letters either.

I'm so excited for you, though! *keeps fingers crossed* Good luck!

xnera, Christy, I've e-mailed them to both of you. [Angst]

Sara, I'll send you the cover letter as it currently stands, as well.
