I'm looking into flying out to Boston.
Things I want to see:
Boston Museum of Science & thier LOTR Exhibit.
MIT Campus.
Hatrackers [Smile]

I know of several Hatrackers that would like to go at this point. The closing date of the exhibit is October 24th. Travelling seems to be pretty cheap right now via airlines *GEE I WONDER WHY [Razz] *

Any interest?

You should check to see if tickets are still available. I thought they had already sold out.

oic dare I try to plan something ?

I'll look into it; I would have done so earlier, but it was hectic with my brothers wedding (THE reason I didn't go to kamamammamamamamamammammammamaamama-com)

Looks like there is plenty on most of the days I checked in September.

Maybe you were thinking for the opening.

Oooooh this is interesting.

What day are you looking at? I'm going to be in Boston overnight en route to New Zealand.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Let me know, JenniK and i might be up for it! We never made it there last weekend.

Plenty of tickets though, but we should book in advance...

I might want to go too... depending...

What LotR exhibit?!?

Posted by Bokonon (Member # 480) on :

I've already been to the exhibit, good stuff.

If there were a dinner, depending on my schedule, I'd be up for that.

Thanks for the link, Bok! [Smile]

*may be slightly interested* [Wink]

If something is planned, I hope you can make it, Syn! It would be nice to be able to see you again [Smile]

But they're just not the same without that Ricky Ricardo accent...... *sigh*

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

We could hit up Bartley's Burgers.

I REALLY think we should all get together for a picnic to welcome JaneX to the New England Clump, as she's moved into her dorm at Smith.

YEAY! [Big Grin]

Posted by Mike (Member # 55) on :

I'm all for more Hatrack gatherings. When are we thinking of having this?

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

No one has yet stepped up to be the leader.

Not it!

Posted by Bokonon (Member # 480) on :

All we need to know is when raventh1 is flying out, or when JaneX has a break from studies, and then with our WonderDodecatuplets Powers(tm), we will activate the Tasty Gourmet Burger Outing, or the Western Mass. Shin-Dig.

I'm up for the burgers anytime; it's a 15 minute walk from my place [Smile] ...Maybe I'll go tonight! [Wink]

Lucky.

As much as I enjoy Bartley's, it's really really tiny and crowded...

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

I can't go anywhere or do anything(exc. this weekend's Rhythm and Roots) until next June.

Pretty much.

But JaneX, if you need anything, let me know. I am just a couple of towns over.

John Harvard's has revamped their menu, and has good beer... It's plenty large for a hatrack gathering.

-Bok

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

Hmmm. I'm not saying I couldn't be convinced. Would it be wrong to correct math papers while drinking beer?

I'm sure some of the parents might wonder, but otherwise it sounds like fun.

Math papers and beer...yum. [Big Grin]

Posted by Bokonon (Member # 480) on :

Elizabeth, think of it this way: You'd fit in with all the Harvard math T.A.s and profs correcting much higher math assignments/problems than you [Smile]

-Bok

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

There you go. Problem solved. [Big Grin]

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

Maybe we could just split them up. A correcting party, as it were. I could bring a little bottle of perfume to sprinkle on the papers just in case we have spillage.

"Mrs. O'Brien, I have a red splotch on my paper, and it smells sort of like...salsa?"

"Yeah, and there's a squashed french fry stuck to mine."

I have decided I just won't give assignments. I have to correct 110 math fact sheets. (100 facts) It took me an hour to do one 25. Next time, it is going to be the old "Pass your paper to the person next to you, and we will correct these together" trick.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Ok, I am up for it if it is at all possible for JenniK and me to make it.

But I can't run it this time...another storm like that an I will just float into the distance.... [Big Grin]

It might be easier for JaneX to do it out here, but if she is up for the Boston thing JenniK and I could alway bring her...Smith isn't very far from where we live, maybe half an hour max....

I AM going to the LOTR in Boston, even if the rest doesn't work out.....so even if we do the WMASS shindig again (which I am in favor of anytime.... [Big Grin] ) I would love to go with hatrackers, or even meet up for dinner with the bastages that have already gone...right Bok? [Big Grin]

Anything ever come of this?

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Not yet, but Jenni and I are planning a Boston trip soon....not sure of the date, just waiting on the others..

Kwea

Posted by JaneX (Member # 2026) on :

Wow. People are planning a get-together and specifically including my name in their plans and I didn't even know about it! [Eek!] [Cool]

I would definitely be interested in coming - I've heard about the LOTR exhibit and I really want to see it. So does my friend and LOTR buddy, Hannah, who's also at college in this area...in fact, we were talking about going together. If there are Hatrackers involved, so much the better. [Smile]

When were you thinking about doing this?

~Jane~

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

I might be able to do it in two weeks....on a Sunday, probably. It depends on what my work schedual looks like.

I always have Mondays off too, so we could do it on a Monday night, after you get out of class....and then meet up with Bok and Karen, and maybe Paul Goldner....hell, anyone else who can go as well....for dinner.

I talked to Myr today, and she wants to as well, is possible.

So.....?

I can make the drive to Boston on weekends. Let me know when it's happening, and I'll let you know if I can do it.

Posted by JaneX (Member # 2026) on :

As far as I know, two weeks from now would be okay. Hannah just IMed me saying, "I wanna come!!!!!!!!!" which I think suggests that she's interested, too. [Razz]

Just let us know when the date is more definite...

~Jane~

Posted by sarahdipity (Member # 3254) on :

I am much more likely to come if it's on a weekend as well, now that classes are going and all. I'm petitioning to not have it between sept 26-oct 3 as I have a conference to go to. But feel free to ignore that and have fun w/o me.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Well, let me see what Jenni's work schedual looks like too, as she has every other weekend off. Anyone have an idea on a date, just so I can figure it out?

Just as suggestions...are weekends better for most?

Kwea

Posted by MyrddinFyre (Member # 2576) on :

Weekends prolly better... I have class all day and night tues to fri... all depends on when I can get a ride home and/or to the bus station. [Smile]

Posted by JaneX (Member # 2026) on :

Weekends are probably better for me, too.

~Jane~

Posted by Mike (Member # 55) on :

Hmm. I don't think I can go the weekend of the 25th-26th. But don't let that stop you, cause I'm not sure I can go any other time either. [Frown] Stoopid full schedule.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Myr, we might be able to do something about that, depending on the car situation...I don't know how many people we might be bringing.

Kwea

Are we any closer to figuring out a date for this thing? [Smile]

~Jane~

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

Not the next two weekends, but maybe three weeks from this one....Jenni and I have the whole weekend off that week, I think.

I would really love to go; I've been wanting to see the LotR exhibit for a long time now... the best weekends for me would be Oct 2-3 or 16-17... but that's just my personal preference.

Three weeks from this weekend is the weekend of October 9-10, right? I'm not sure if that's a good weekend for me... it's my fall break, and my mom might be coming up here. Plus I might have midterms around that time. :/

~Jane~

WEll, I work most wekends...how are Mondays for youo, Jane?

Jenni and I always have Mondays off, and we could go early, and meet up with Bok and others for dinner before heading back.

Well, I have the car...lol...

J/K, sort of....

Jenni and I only get 1 weekend off together a month, so it is hit or miss...we might just go ourselves, and if the oppertunity comes again, then you can join us, and we will pick you up for it that time.

If we can, we would like to set it up so we can all go, but that may not be possible.

How long have you been fencing, JaneX?

I wanna see you and Mack go at it....

And fence, too.....

[Evil]

C'mon Kwea, did we need any more fencing posts?

Well, I haven't paid any attention to this thread.

I'm moving out within the next month. My plans have changed. I didn't think there was this much interest. I'll see what I can do, depending on how well moving goes.

Just learned from the Boston Museum of Science Website that Sean Astin is going to be at the museum on Saturday, October 16!! [Eek!]

So needless to say, I think we've pretty much settled on that day. [Razz]

Does anyone know anything about the Boston Museum of Science? I'm wondering if I have to buy tickets in advance (particularly for a special exhibit like this, which I'm assuming will be popular - especially if Sean Astin is going to be there!). If so, I can get them on the website, but I need to know how many people are coming. So anyone who can make it, please let me know by Tuesday (at the absolute latest!) so I can start working out these details! [Smile]

Get the tickets ASAP, by computer. Even on a regular weekend they sell out.

That is the weekend of my and JenniK's first wedding anniversary, so we won't be going.

We will be doing something completely different all weekend....

Have fun though!

Oh no, I just got your message [Frown] I hate being too busy to even check my phone! Grrr. I was at King Richard's Faire that day, so I couldn't have made it anyway... did you get to see Sean Astin?!

Posted by JaneX (Member # 2026) on :

We did go. We didn't get to see Sean Astin, though - they closed the line at 10:30 in the morning, so no one else could get in. We just caught a glimpse of the back of his head as he walked out of the room. [Razz]

The exhibit was really cool. They had lots of props and costumes, a bunch of videos about the making of the movie, and a few interactive exhibits. It was fun. [Smile]
