So, events have landed me a $200 gift card to Best Buy.

As it just so happens, I can use the gift card toward the purchase of a desktop-- here's what I'm looking at:

Compaq, refurbished

It's a refurbished desktop, and would end up costing me $175-180 after I use the gift card.

But it's a Compaq, and I've not often heard good things about Compaq. That said, this computer appears far and away better than the HP that sporadically works for us now.

I checked out the 'build your own computer' section at BB, and I am not impressed with the pricing. Not when there's www.newegg.com to give me deliciousness in the form of actual, good discounts.

So. . . other than this computer, what else should I get @ Best buy?

Xbox + Fable. . . oooh. . .

Digital camera?

Music/movies?

Stereo equipment?

Computers/computer accessories?

Quesedia maker?

Seriously, I could burn so much money in that store. Good thing I have some self restraint, and haven't put myself in debt.
It would be so easy, and wonderful, to have a shopping spree at Best Buy. Too bad my bank account would implode.

Crazy as always,

Digital Camera-- Got one already

Music/movies-- Got what I want at this present time. And I'd use Christmas for this item, anyway.

Stereo Equipment-- Ditto

Computers/Computer Accessories-- see the first post.

Quesadilla maker-- We have the family sized George Foreman grill. It's genius, pure genius.

My problem is this-- I don't know that I'm "allowed" to spend the $175 on a computer. We keep a pretty tight rein on spending for items that we don't need. I KNOW I don't need the X-box/Fable combo. Although I'd get it practically for free, it would cost me writing time (since playing Xbox != writing stories). But that can be handled with a shot of Discipline.

Stargate SG-1 on DVD boxed sets

or, I would have a list of computer programs that I can't afford right now - but I still couldn't get The Sims 2 because my computer can't handle it. [Frown]

The thing I love about Fable is that you can marry a dude!!! That is so cool!

But...I would recomend you buy "Homeworld" for the PC. That is an awesome game. Or Starcraft. Or Dark City the movie. Or Neo Genesis Evangelion the anime mini-series. Or Wolf's Rain the anime mini-series.

The clear solution to this problem is for you to buy the Xbox and Fable and then give them to me.

Telp-- I've played both Homeworld and Starcraft demos. I hated Starcraft, but I hate all RTS games.

Homeworld I really liked, until I realized that it was just RTS in space with really cool music. Then I decided that it wasn't worth my time.
