No, it hasn't forgotten the words.

Researchers claim that winter storms cause high waves which interact to form longer waves, which reach the seafloor and beat it like a drum. In musical terms, the sound would be about 16 octaves below middle C.

It surprises me that storms can reach through deep ocean and cause seismic events.

quote:
Our results demonstrate that the Earth's hum originates mainly in the northern Pacific Ocean during Northern Hemisphere winter, and in the Southern oceans during Southern Hemisphere winter. We conclude that the Earth's hum is generated by the interaction between atmosphere, ocean and sea floor, probably through the conversion of storm energy to oceanic infragravity waves that interact with seafloor topography.

So, the music of the spheres is real.

What the heck are "infragravity waves", that's new to me.

Dude. So the whole Earth is vibrating. It's good to see you, by the way.

Dang! That would have been my guess!

Actually, I kinda knew the answer since I saw one of the articles about it. But I realized I don't understand this at all, not really a physics kind of orientation here.

Good to see you back!
