this is kinda exciting! I was up on Mt. Rainier today and kept a weather eye out in case I got to see a plume of ash rise up on the skyline.
What I got to see was beautiful vistas of blue sky, fall colors, scampering chipmunks, and a really neat retired couple sipping red wine. They offered to share - wasn't that nice?
If the mountain blows, who'll pay for a piece of pumice?

I'm too far north to see anything from it *mutters* and our local volcano is showing no signs of erupting any time soon...

I'd pay a pound for a piece of pumice!

I used to live about 45 miles away from Mt. Baker... Hmph... I won't be able to take a trip to see it if it goes active, I hate moving.

The Seattle Times said the area was being evacuated...
I'm excited! Except I hope no earthquakes come up here (metro seattle) because last time they did our chimmney fell down.
And the Mt St Helens park is just starting to get so gorgeous again after 20some years. All those poor chipmunks are going to die off again.

True... We still have a jar of ash from the last explosion...

I've got a gorgeous view of Mt. Baker if it ever decides to go really active, beyond tiny steam vents.

Which of course means that half the state of Washington will be going airborn in a wild orgy of volcanic activity with in the next 2 hours.
