I know you all have old screen names just sitting around collecting dust...

Let's have fun with them! See how distinct your posting style is--we'll have a discussion using only alts, and see if you can get your identity guessed (i.e. somebody replying to a quote in one of your posts using your real screenname).

Today's topic, only for super-secret alternate screen names (if you don't have one, get one), is: The State of Hatrack-Too Fluffy?

I, personally, think that the current amount of fluff is too little, and that the Funny is the only thing keeping some of the people here from taking themselves waaaaay too seriously, a la David Bowles in this thread.

You're all in big trouble.

At least that's what I've heard. I don't know anything about it. Honest.

Posted by Bob (not Bob) (Member # 6286) on :

I wouldn't know if it's too fluffy around here, since I ignore the pure fluf threads.

On the other hand, I usually don't post much in the super-serious threads (although there are exceptions).

I guess I like my Hatrack luke-warm.

You kids leaving email addresses available makes this too easy. The three above me in order of increasing distance: Noemon, Dan, sarcasticmuppet.

Yeah, that Noemon's a slacker, leaving his email address visible like that.

More than I can remember the spellings for, unfortunately. I've never used them much--just for the occasional throw away joke here and there--but now I'm finding that I don't remember the usernames for some of them and the passwords for others.

Posted by celia60 (Member # 2039) on :

you know, if they're from the same email address, the resend password thing will now send all the usernames/passwords for an email address.

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

They aren't though--a lot of them are pretty old, and are linked to an excite account that probably hasn't existed since...oh, before you were born.

Posted by Teshi (Member # 5024) on :

I actually only have the 'Teshi' name. I like it, and have never felt the need to create another.

At first I agreed that the world was full of lying wankers. Now I am against it!

Posted by Alucard... (Member # 4924) on :

P.S. I posted here not once, but twice under pseudonyms. You see, I once read this cool book where this brother and sister manipulated the world's political stage from their adolescence, and I came up with the bright idea to idolize them. Good Book by the way...

I suck at this game. I'm so bad at this game that I've read over old threads that someone bumped, came to a post that I enthusiastically agreed with, and then realized that that's my alternative user name and I wrote the darn thing. I think you need to be paying a certain amount of attention to play this game.

Yes, that is very true.

Who was it that registered as all of the members of U2 after I registered as Bono? Was that Jon Boy? It was funny.

Posted by Javert Hugo (Member # 3980) on :

I have no idea who you are, but have decided that unless you make laugh, it doesn't matter. [Razz]

Have I ever shared my theory that Hatrack is basically a cleverly-written drawing room drama? It's like reading a play - mostly dialogue, occasional descriptions of action. Comic relief, discussion of large issues, dramas behind the scenes that sometimes creep into the main stage. There are heroes and angels and villians, and there is even character progression. I occasionally have a desire to make Hatrack: The Play. This ambition usually dissapears into a fluff thread.

My friend Pancho Villa, he once had a burro named bandito. That stupid burro would steal your tobacco if you were not careful. The burro, he swallowed a whole pouch of Pancho's tobacco once. After that, the burro had a string hanging out of his butt for many weeks. Many persons asked Pancho: "hey, what is that string hanging out of your burro's butt?" Pancho, he just squinted narrowly and shot those stupid persons between the eyes. He say: "man, you got a problem with my burro starting a thread?"
