But only if you are in Utah where you get Channel 2, KUTV.

Okay, this is a very strange request, I know. But we kind of need to prod the station a bit to give out a little more information on an event I've been helping to organize.

Basically, we arranged for a TV promotion with the press in which 2 television stations showed up, out of 3 that promised to. One showed the story. But the story they showed was very limited and did not even give out the information that was on the press release and basically every paper piece of information that they were given.

I will give you this information tonight, but I could use your help now.

Here was the story on the news as I remember it:

"Wizards and Hobbits play the violin and Jackson Elementary School! "

Pan to cute school children playing the violin.

"yada yada something about a program where every student gets to learn to play the violin.

"We see them here reherasing for the (Lord of the Rings?) Symphony Gala." Don't remember if they mentioned the actual date of the event. [but as a viewer, you might miss that too]

"Blah, Oh how cute"

"Yeah, and with the movies that came out Lord of the Rings is very popular now"

Would anyone (Only from Utah within the viewing range of KUTV) like to call them today, before probably about 4:30 or 5 and ask for more information?

Questions could be something like: Is the Lord of the Rings symphony coming here?

What is the Symphony Gala and how can I go?

When is the Symphony Gala?

How much are tickets?

How do I get tickets for that Lord of the Rings thingy you had on the news today?

Their number is: 973-3000

If you do this, could you post it here and email me? ami AT geekatplay DOT com

Thank you in advance because I know you, yes YOU now who live in Utah and are reading this will help out.

What's the area code. Just because we don't live in Utah doesn't mean we can't harass the station [Big Grin]

P.S. It's just ringing and ringing. 12... 13... 14... do you have a better number?

I called and spoke to someone at the city desk. They said they had no information on this event. They suggested I call Jackson Elementary.

I told them that Jackson said they didn't have the particulars on this event. I also said that I understood that information had been given to them by someone. They said, they didn't have anything. I have emailed Melissa but no response yet. I have tried to call her also but all lines are busy.

I asked two of my daughters to call the station and they have. I don't think they will post here but wanted you to know that there are calls coming in to the station on this issue.

Also called Ann Marie but she was out of the office. Will call in a bit.

The phone person transfered me to the newsroom where some guy said "The kids aren't playing, they were just doing it for the event coordinators." Then he kindly looked up the information so I could get a ticket, but all he told me was to call Abravanel Hall.

Pooka -

That is the only contact number. Thank you [Smile]

Thanks, demosthenes, but apparently we have to be subtle or they are not our friends any more. And we need them to be our friends.

Wow, working with media is quite a learning experience. You realize that what one person there gets excited about does not translate to the people who actually show up to do the filming. And never assume that because one person there knows a particular thing, everyone does. Even if you gave everyone you meet there a sheet of information.

And if there is a fire somewhere...

Tell the TV stations that if they cover the event, there will be a slow-speed car chase following the show that will last for many hours.

Actually, if they cover the event we could show them a pregnant Arwen and Eowyn mudwrestling...
