So I am going to a Halloween party on Saturday. I mentioned elsewhere that a friend once wrapped himself in tinfoil and went as "the thing in the back of your fridge", and I want to steal that a bit. I'm poor, and really busy with some contract work at the moment, so I was thinking of wrapping my head in tinfoil and going as a baked potato.

Then I thought it would be fun to have the tinfoil open at the top and have some baked potato coming out. Problem is, I can't think of a nifty way of doing that. I have rather long hair, and I don't want to have anything sticky/gooey/messy on my head. Maybe I could cut the bill off an old baseball cap and put something on top of that to be the potato, then wrap tinfoil around it.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I'm terrible at Halloween costumes. [Frown]

And make sure you sprinkle "chives" on top, to complete the look.

Avoid the sour cream, though...

Use styrfoam peanuts for the white parts of the potato. Use several cut up and correctly shaped paper bags, speckled with black paint for the skin. You should get some yellow foam for a pat of butter, some green cellophane wrappers for chives-- maybe some red cellophane wrappers for bacon bits.

Oh! There's some white packing foam at work that would be even better than styrofoam peanuts! I'll grab some for you if you like.

That's a great idea!
THat would be great, Liza, thanks!

I think some of the yellow foam packing material would be great, and easier to use. Or just a square of it for that little dab of butter.

I know there is a Fork joke to be made here, but this is a family forum.

Dan, watch your language!

Tony actually made that joke to my not-so-little brother last night. They were both in hysterics all through dinner.

I hope you're planning on sitting down a lot during this party. As tall as you are, no one is going to be able to see it otherwise.

The thought had occurred to me.

I got the foam. And I have an idea for the chives... cut up a green straw. That way it'll have the same shape, just on a bigger scale.

Starbucks has green straws, if you were looking for a place to liberate some from. [Smile]

You could do this as a full body costume, with the belly cut open as the potato part, tigh the chives and butter there. That way people could see it without you having to point it out, or sit down all the time....

Cheap and fast are my mottoes, here. I'm gonna be writing all day on contract, and I'm really getting pretty broke. [Frown]

I could say something here, but I will just say this...

Intell3, don't EVER leave yourself that wide open again. [No No]
