This thread is 100% guaranteed fluff.

Anyone using the E word will be ejected, rejected, or make us all dejected.

Feel free to link to non-electorial games, humor, lightness, or whatever silliness gets you mind off of news and important stuff.

Are you not from the US and don't give a fig about the election? Are you polled out? Are you scared and want to hide somewhere safe, but Canada closed their borders to save thier flu shots? Here is where you can relax, have fun, and not worry about who is moving into the big ugly white building on the East coast.

Hey, I think my computer's done charging. That's exciting.

Unfortunately, I'm still at work and unable to use said computer. I'm carrying around my laptop today so that I can write my novel. *coughcough* The battery was running down, so I came to work, turned on the desktop here, and plugged in my laptop to charge.

I'm so bored.

Later I will play the sims and make people make out
Then I will get my novel on.

We have a foster ferret (in addition to the 6 we own). His name is Sterling and he's really cute. My husband wants us to keep him, but I'm afraid he won't be able to make it with our crew--they're all bigger than him, and while the two boys are fairly laid-back, the four girls are really mean. They're like that gang of schoolyard bullies everyone was terrified of in elementary school. We tried letting them all out to play together the other night, and poor Sterling ended up cowering in my lap traumatized whenever he wasn't being dragged around by the scruff, screaming for mercy. It makes me sad [Frown] He's a sweet boy and I wish we could keep him, but I think our regular crew is just too rough.

Well, one of them has a slight excuse that she has early-stage adrenal cancer, and so is probably more aggressive because of the pain (vet says she can't operate for another 4-5 months). But I don't cut her much slack because of that, she's been a total psychopath her whole life.

It's a big TV night tonight.

If you want to avoid politics:

5:00pm-7:00pm Rockets basketball (vs. Pistons I think)

7:00pm-9:30pm Lakers vs. Denver

8:00pm Gilmore Girls!

9:00 pm Scrubs, Veronica Mars

A boy computer, yes?

Aesop. Apollo. Demosthenes. Plato. Aristotle. Euclid. Diogenes.

Gregorios, the Greek saint of watchfulness and alertness.

Alex (Alexios), the Greek saint of helpfulness. He was also a beekeeper, so you have a nice tie-in to ScottR there, too.

Pythagoras, who founded a mystic order based on the belief that everything was made of numbers. (Good computer name, what with the binary and all.)

Tycho, from the Greek for "hitting the mark." Recall also Tycho Brahe, the astronomer.

My car is named Spanner. I wanted to call her Wrench, but my husband insisted that 1) all cars are female, and 2) "Wrench" was too masculine-sounding, so I used the British name instead.

A Greek portable computer that needs recharging?

Socketrees.

Posted by Carrie (Member # 394) on :

With me finally noting the full charge on my computer, I've also decided on a name.

Gordon Alexios. I had to go with Gordon in honour of Sasha (that is really ridiculously cute, Dan), and Alexios primarily because his feast day is 17 March, giving me yet another reason to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. That whole helpfulness thing factors in a bit, too.

Whose feast is on your birthday?

Refuge - hooray! I'm sick of hearing about the "E" and I don't even live in America.

My Saints are:

Nahum the Prophet
Philaret the Merciful of Amnia
Ananias the Persian
Holy Father Theocletus the Wonderworker, Archbishop of Lacedaemonia
Our Holy Fathers Ananius and Solochon, Archbishops of Ephesus

I should have known there was a reason I liked the Prophet Nahum - nowt to do with his book only having three chapters honest.

Did some digging - couldn't find anything about the last two but apparently Ananias the Persian is Shadrach of standing in the fiery furnace fame.

But why are all mine blokes?

Today's chocolate: Dagoba chai bar.

Ingredients: Organic milk chocolate, crystallized ginger, ginger, cinnamon, clove, cardamom, anise, nutmeg, black pepper, and of course, love.

I'm surprised at how much I can taste the anise, and how much I like it. I dislike licorice intensely. Of course, I do like sambuca, and I put star anise in my mulled cidar, so maybe it's not surprising.

Anyway, I normally only buy dark chocolate, but I got this one because I really like ginger. It was a good choice.
