We've got M&M's, egg nog, and chocolate on the first page of threads, so why not another food thread?

What are your favorite pizza toppings?

(bearing in mind, of course, that anyone who has played role-playing games with anyone else will have no toppings in common whatsoever)

Mine are artichoke hearts and mushrooms. I'm also rather partial to pizza with spinach on top. Any combination of those three toppings makes me very happy.

I prefer plain old pepperoni with some crushed red pepper sprinkled over it.

However, what makes a GOODE pizza isn't the toppings, which pretty much taste the same wherever you go. GOODE pizza is in the crust and the sauce.

Mmmm. . . I like a nice, pliable, foldable crust, and a tangy tomato sauce.

Just CHEESE.....

well, okay, maybe mushroom too.

Sourkraut and canadian bacon make a surprisingly good combination. When we first got together my wife ordered this all the time, and I made no end of fun of her for it. Then I tried it, and proceeded to become addicted.

I normally prefer pepperoni.

Jalapeno pepper and pineapple is good for those days when you feel like being different.

And one of the local companies (I think they're not a chain) makes an awesome Feta-licious pizza. That's Glass Nickel, for anyone in the area reading this.

My favorite topping combination is pepperoni-mushrooms-green peppers.

But since Diane doesn't like green peppers very much what I usually get is pepperoni-mushroom.

(And to be fair, Diane likes onions on her pizza and I don't, so she does without those.)

I'm an everything girl: pepperoni, ham, sausage, green pepper, onion, black olive, crushed red pepper, and pineapple. Plain old Hawaiian is good too.

Mushrooms or tomatoes. Tomatoes make things so juicy.
Dang, I miss NYC pizza.

Posted by Dagonee (Member # 5818) on :

Italian sausage and onions.

I prefer sausage serverd New York style, with thin slices of sausage rather than crumbles. But that's hard to find where I live.

Broccoli and black olives.

I always thought pineapple on pizza was weird, but I tasted pizza with pineapple a few weeks back, and it's surprisingly good.

Pepperoni and black olives.

Posted by Misha McBride (Member # 6578) on :

Pepperoni and extra cheese.
I also like the alfredo pizza they make at CiCi's.

Posted by TheTick (Member # 2883) on :

Just cheese. We usually end up with something else (like sausage or pepperoni) and I take the extra stuff off.

I really like California Pizza Kitchen Pizzas for more exotic tastes. The Chicago Deep Dish pizzas are quite good though.

I still wonder how many deep dish pieces of pizza Papa Moose ate at Kama Con after he was worried about starving if he ate only two.

Any combination of the following: Sausage, Onions, Bananna Peppers, Ham, Tomato, Pineapple, Mushrooms, Extra Cheese

But NEVER Pepperoni....ewwwwww.....

I'll have to agree with those mentioning Hawaiian pizza: that's a taste I always thought I would hate, but once I tried it? Yum!

extra marinara and well cooked mushrooms.
duck sausage would also be welcome.

My favorite pizza:

Start with a vegetarian pizza.

Now add sausage and pepperoni.

Yum!

Posted by dread pirate romany (Member # 6869) on :

Italian sausage, mushrooms and olives.

Grilled chicken with fresh crushed garlic (not diced, it becomes too bitter).

And when in a veggie mood: pineapple, green peppers, and onions.

And I also enjoy a plain ole cheese pizza, as well as Hawaiian.

I have to partly disagree with you, Scott R.

Although I do agree the crust, cheese, and sauce are very important, I think which toppings appeal to people is also important.

anyway my favorite toppings in descending order are:

1: Bacon (NOT canadian)
2: black olives
2: mushrooms (not a typo, they are tied)
4: ham
5: pepperoni
6: chicken
7: a bit of peppers and onions, not too much though.

My favorite pizza: first you start with pepperoni. Then you add sausage and canadian bacon. Then onions and olives and tomatoes. Finally, parmesan cheese on top.

Posted by sarcasticmuppet (Member # 5035) on :

For me sauce is just one of those necessary evils that go on a pizza. My most oft-heard complaint about any pizza chain is that they add too much sauce. Blech. I just put the barest amount to cover the crust and leave it at that.

Though I do make a really nice alfredo chicken pizza. Mmmmmm...in that case, the more sauce the better.

Aside from that, my favorite topping is definetely pepperoni. And I love Pizza Hut's lazer-cut pepperoni that's nice and cruncy when it's baked.

And the mozzerella has to melt well, which means it must not be low-fat. Small price to pay. Parmesan is good too. [Big Grin]

Pepperoni and Gyro meat. Oh yeah.

Second favorite would be Pepperoni and Jalapeno.

Third would be Canadian Bacon and Pineapple.

Somewhere in there has to be cheese. Lots of cheese. Talking about more cheese than dough amounts of cheese. Baked just enough to brown the bottom of the dough and the top of the cheese. With garlic butter. (I actually managed to make a consistent version of this, and unofficially add it to the Cici's menu where I used to work. 'Twas called Baron's Bread, and took many a year off the lives of many a customer and employee.)

garlic, spinach and tomato is probably my favorite with pepperoni as a close second. I also like green olives and I haven't met many people who do that. I'm not much for other meats, although I can tolerate sausage. Veggies and mushrooms are good, but not packed on. I like all kinds of cheeses, too. Feta, parmasean, a good italian blend. Tom likes cheddar for color [Smile]

CHEESE [Party]

Posted by plaid (Member # 2393) on :

Cheese is fine, especially if it's NY-style. (Alas that I live in Missouri now, and can never find decent NY-style pizza here, oh sure they TRY and make NY-style pizza here but it's just not the same, it's like they're trying to fake a Brooklyn accent...)

Toppings = bell peppers, onions, pineapple.

Worst topping I ever had = tuna fish. Ordered a slice by accident while in Morocco. Ewwwwwwww.

Posted by breyerchic04 (Member # 6423) on :

Cheese, though I really like cheese on bread, with no sauce, garlic sauce (like papa johns cheese sticks) or alfredo. Not a huge fan of tomato sauce.

Quattro formagi (done with blue cheese, buffalo mozarella and two others I don't remember)

Actually, anything with buffalo mozarella makes me very happy. Also any combination of mushroom, proscuitto, green capsicum (pepper?), baby spinach, rocket (arugula?), artichoke hearts and Italian sausage is bound to impress.

Oh, and I love love love a chicken and potato pizza a local italian resteraunt makes. Mmmm.

(Hungry now.)

Black olives, green peppers, onions, spinach and feta cheese...

Or regular bacon and onion.

Posted by Da_Goat (Member # 5529) on :

Ham, pineapple, and breakfast bacon with triple cheese. Jalepenos on the side.

And if it's going to be good, it's going to come from anywhere but Domino's Pizza.

Capicollo, feta cheese, artichoke hearts, black olives, italian sausage, banana peppers and roasted garlic.

If you ever have a pepperoni pizza, instead of sinning against your tastebuds, with bland, thin, pathetic pre-sliced crap, go out and buy Hormel's pepperoni, smaller radius than you're used to but cut it as thick as you like. And trust me, if God ate pepperoni pizza, He's eat it with Hormel's pepperonis on it.

mmmmm Hawaiian pizza... good stuff

I have to say, however, that the best pizza I've ever eaten was homemade by to of my friends. They used sourdough bread for the crust, but it wasn't too thick, and they topped them with all sorts of yummy veggies and chicken and cheese. One of the best combinations was acutally red onion and fried sweet potato... sounds kinda weird, but it was amazing.

*dies* [Hail]

Rivka, three points.

1) I said if God ate pepperoni pizza.

2) Even if He did keep Kosher, breaking Kosher would be worth the non-pre-sliced Hormel pepperonis.

3) [Razz]

Cheese. Lots of cheese. A local pizza restaurant has this four cheese and garlic pizza that is to die for.

But if I'm not having a cheese pizza, I like lots and lots of veggies on them. Olives, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, garlic...sometimes artichoke hearts. Also pineapple.

I don't usually like meat on my pizza, though chicken is sometimes good.

MMMmmm...I think I'm going to have pizza for dinnner.

Pizza toppings: pepperoni, olives, and sausage are the three that come to mind.

Cheese.

Plain. Cheese. Pizza.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

1) Indeed you did.
2) No.
3) I have no response to your brilliant third point.

I like Hawaiian plus black olives. Nummy! And the pizza place downtown has the crust folded over the sauce. very cool.

God makes his own pepperoni. If a normal man were to bite it, he(the man) would surely explode.

Fine, I will respond to it (even though stating that you're not going to respond to it is in of itself, a response to it.)

I love chicken and pinapple pizza. Great stuff. In second would be California Pizza Kitchen's BLT pizza, suprisingly very good. And, of course, you just can't beat a plain piece of pizza.

Pepperoni!!!

& black olives, bannana peppers, italian sausage, bacon, green peppers, onions, garlic, ranch dressing. [Smile]

Chicken is also really really good on pizza. [Smile]

Posted by MEC (Member # 2968) on :

Ok, so how about pizza styles.

I like most of them, but my favorite would have to be deep dish/chicago style pizza.

Posted by Allegra (Member # 6773) on :

I like thin crust or hand tossed pizza depending on my mood and the toppings. Good toppings include: Tomatoes, onion, green pepper, cheese. I generally only like one topping on my pizza. There was a pizza at the place I worked that had no sauce, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, and tomatoes. It was yummy.

Posted by Lupus (Member # 6516) on :

mushrooms are my fav, though I can handle most other normal toppings (ie: the stuff you'd get on a supreme pizza). I could do without pepperoni though.

Posted by jexx (Member # 3450) on :

Does anybody else like cashews on their pizza?

Or am I the only one?

Yup.

The only one.

Again.

*sigh*

And mack: just cheese? Boooo-rinnnnng. But I still love you. Assclown. *G*

Posted by MEC (Member # 2968) on :

I've never tried cashews on pizza. I'll try it and tell you what I think the next time I cook some pizza (nothing beats haveing pizza stones in your oven, I bought several small square pizza stones and made it so my oven's bottom was layered full, I can now cook two pizzas at once!).

Posted by dread pirate romany (Member # 6869) on :

MEC, my husband wants to do that! For now we just have one round stone.
