So, what did most noble OSC say about the nation in which I reside (Israel)?

I'd like a full-scale debate with him, whatever he said.

Jonny

Ever, or just recently? He's a supporter of Israel, I believe.

When he spoke yesterday at MIT.

He just gave a talk at MIY this Sunday on it, bit Jenni and I found out too late to attend.

I think that is what he is refering to, anyway.... [Dont Know]

I am.

I still want to speak to him. How can he be contacted?

Jonny

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

His e-mail is around here somewhere. You're welcome to e-mail him, although I don't know how often he is able to respond.

He doesn't read the forums.

Not through here, usually. I can only think of two times I have seen him in here, at least as himself.....and the most recent time was not a good thing.

He DID jump in about a year ago, when we had a thread about Hart's Hope.....just to tell us that we were analyzing it all wrong...lol....

I sent the OSC Help Desk this:

"Dear OSC Help Desk,

How is one able to contact Orson Scott Card either personally or through a private chat room?

If possible, what procedures/measures should I take in order to allow streaming communication (rather than stuttered or fragmented)?

Thank you in advance,

Jonathan Howard"

How's it?

Worth a shot, right?

I think your chances of a response are higher if you send an e-mail and allow him to get to you on his own time. No, I don't have the e-mail address. It has to be on the site around here somewhere.

Searched. Probably hidden. Like Freud's "unconsciousness", not a locked office; but rather a dark, damp cellar.

I guess OSC is that mythical anonymous writer who cannot be accesses whatsoever; he has web-pages but is never alerted of progress, or at least he shows no sign of it.

Did anyone even verify his picture, that it's his?

Maybe OSC is not real, just a character made by someone, and all speeches are pre-written etc.?

Oh, my drifting off again...

Jonny

Oh, it's around here somewhere.

Several members of the board have met Mr. Card in person, I believe. There's one member of the board who claims to have known him since he was born. I'd say the chances are about 90% he's a real person.

Well, he would pass Slash's real test, wouldn't he?

OSC is a Russian spy!

He has an (apparently) innocent name. He is very ntellignt, he puts China in evil light in Shadow of the Hegemon... Ever since they broke away from Moscow. He makes the US seem a bit petty in Ender's Game, that was before he wall fell...

He never seems accessible...

He's inflirating the CIA!

Jonny

P.S. Does anyone else beside me make up bizzare theories like that on the spot?

How could he? He wasn't around when OSC was born.

Theory fell.

Proofing for previous post of mine: "the wall fell", not "he wall fell".

I saw a message in my mail. It was the automatic response...

It's so annoying sometims, anticipation.

Trust to the smarty-pants Polish chick to catch me in an ambiguous pronoun. [Smile]

[Eek!] You live here??? Where???

Posted by Jonathan Howard (Member # 6934) on :

I live "here", temporarily.

Hopefully when I'm 18 I'll get rid of Israeli stigmas and that will be due to army evasion.

I live in Jerusalem; German Colony.

Posted by Raia (Member # 4700) on :

Holycrap! That's like a 15 minute drive from me!!

We should get together sometime!! I'm in the German colony twice a week for Camelot rehearsals!

OK. E-mail me at... ummm.... *thinking of appropiate one out of (Bean's IQ) amount of -mail addresses*...

jmas5.7k@gmail.com

No wicked stuff (damn, that English slang survived 3 generations)! I'm a 14 y.o. with a bizzare mind. But sure!

Damn, got to go to bed.

ALL OF YOU, KEEP THIS POST GOING!

This is the longest one I've made, 20 replies, try to get it to 50 *wink*. That'll prove I'm not THAT passive here!

Jonny

Posted by Raia (Member # 4700) on :

Haha, yeah, it's late... [Wink]

Though I've been staying up insanecrazy hours to talk to US people.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

He has known OSC since he was born....the he is A Dog Named Rat, and OSC is his father!

Noce try though.

I think there are actually at least two members here at Hatrack that have known Card their entire lives ... and one knows him well enough to have married him [Smile]

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

kat, I don't believe OSC's eddress IS anywhere on Hatrack. The preferred method of contacting him, I think, is exactly as Jonny did -- via the Help Desk.

Good luck on getting a response. [Smile]

Posted by Jonathan Howard (Member # 6934) on :

No reply from Help Desk thus far...

The... anticipation... burning.... in my... heart and... mind... cannot... wait... until... I know... the... tr... TRUTH! (Oh, shut up, Jonny!)

Jonny

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

*laugh* I'd give it a couple days. I'm fairly certain the helpdesk is personed by volunteers.

Posted by Jonathan Howard (Member # 6934) on :

So they might not even know his address...

Jeez! And he calls this HIS forum.

Jonny

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

In my experience, they do a good job of getting stuff to OSC. Just give it some time.

Posted by newfoundlogic (Member # 3907) on :

A bit impatient aren't you? Also, why do you want a debate before you know what he said?

Posted by Jonathan Howard (Member # 6934) on :

I don't, which is the fun bit.

All he needs is to state a paragraph about Israel - unless I agree to full extent, I can easily debate. The whole thing is really fun; besides, I can read and only send an e-mail 4 hours later or so.

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

Rivka, unless the posts containing his email address have dropped off the forum (and they could have--I haven't seen one in quite awhile), his email address is indeed floating around here and there. I've seen people post it multiple times.

Posted by Jonathan Howard (Member # 6934) on :

Interesting... Curious...

I'll run a search for it!

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Come to think of it, so have I, actually. But I don't believe it's the Officially Sanctioned Method™. [Wink]

Posted by Jonathan Howard (Member # 6934) on :

I think it simply isn't a Standard Successful Procedure® (oops! That's a registered one, not that ™ makes much sense. A trademark should be registered).

I scanned for it in Google, and the only reply I got for '"OSC's email" site:hatrack.com' was one who wrote to him in March. I e-mailed her, a reply is yet to be given.

Alas...

Jonny

Alas, gotta go to school. Keep posting! I'll return at your dawn and I'll continue!

Posted by Dagonee (Member # 5818) on :

Nope, trademarks do not have to be registered to be enforced, at least within the market of the trademark holder.

Raia: Psst...I know that...I was just trying to get him to post here, for Jon's education...... [Roll Eyes]

OK, I just can't type at all.

Deal.

My education... How nice of you... [ROFL]
