I'm sure this has been asked before, but what happens to threads that fall off the end? Are they archived for posterity? Deleted? At the TolkienOnline site they talk about the old threads getting archived...but who knows if that's just under their system or even true. I just think about all the brilliant essays that I and others have written...to think they might all just vanish! [Frown]

They get set free to farms where they run around freely for the rest of their lives.

They are deleted, every 6 months or so, IIRC. Except for the landmark threads which get moved to the archive.

I thought they went to the thread heaven. [Frown]

No, they're supposed to get to run free, but instead they get sent to a petting zoo. This angers the threads-rights activists.

There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth when this policy was instituted. Garments were rent, sackcloth was worn, and ashes were poured over heads.

they established PETT and started throwing paint on computers everywhere.

Those nasty little gremlins that steal left socks have been stockpiling used threads for armageddon.

These are the same critters that create that problem of having a word stuck on the tip of your tongue, even though you're able to say 50 million other things describing that [b]one[/one] word.

Crazy as always,
Psycho Triad

Unfortunnatly some threads make bad decisions in their lifetimes and they go elsewhere. [Evil]

They recycle the letters so there are enough for new threads.

Acutally, they are melted down and forged into rings of power.

What happens to a thread deferred?

I tried to write a parody, but alas, my muse appears to be in a coma.

[Cry]

WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!! [Party]

My test was successful! I did a search for a thread that was past the due date and found my old "going to pass out from lack of sleep" thread... posted in it.. and it's back!!

And yet... Olivetta just bumped some past the date threads...and said that there are some older that cannot be retrieved.. . hmmmmm...
