This is actually sort of a Kinsey contoversy thread. Haven't seen the movie, and probably won't until video, since the hubby has no interest in it, but I have followed the talk. My sister's Master's thesis was based on an interview-based sex study which she conducted, so I have a certain amount of interest in the subject (apart from the obvious).

This article gave me pause, though.

*pauses for Beavis and Butthead-esque giggle fit*

Another interesting article, touching on the same theme:

If there is an "Abstie" life-time achievement award, I think I should get it. I mean, hell, I should be getting something.

I remember reading about Reisman back during the Meese Commission hearings, and thinking what a crank she was. It doesn't sound like she's changed much.

To a reader of Reisman’s scholarly papers, it sometimes appears that there is little for which she does not hold Kinsey responsible. In her research on gays, for instance, she has written that the “recruitment techniques” of homosexuals rival those of the Marine Corps. The Kinsey paradigm, she holds, created the moral framework that makes such recruitment possible. Reisman also endorses a book called “The Pink Swastika,” which challenges the “myths” that gays were victimized in Nazi Germany. The Nazi Party and the Holocaust itself, she writes, were largely the creation of “the German homosexual movement.” Thanks to Alfred Kinsey, she warns, the American homosexual movement is poised to repeat those crimes. “Idealistic ‘gay youth’ groups are being formed and staffed in classrooms nationwide by recruiters too similar to those who formed the original ‘Hitler youth.’”
EXCUSE ME?!?! What a nutcase.

"What is our banner?"

"THE RAINBOW!"

"What is our aim?"

"TO TURN ALL MANKIND GAY!"

"How will we accomplish zis?"

"BY WHATEVER MEANS NECESSARY!"

"Gay Power!"

"GAY PRIDE!"

"Kill the straights!"

"DEATH TO THE ENEMY!"

[Roll Eyes] I can see it now.

I completely believe this. Of course, you can say the same thing about the Boy Scouts, many church youth groups, etc..

The Hitler youth leaders provided pizza and sent reminder postcards?

Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :

Pizza, probably not. But the equivalent, I wouldn't be surprised.

Seriously. My understanding is that in general, Hitler Youth programs were pretty much like the Boy Scouts with a lot of propaganda thrown in. It sounds horrible to cmpare these groups to Hitler Youth, but it's probably a fair characterization.

It is a fair comparison to those groups as well as to the Boy Scouts. Incidentally, most of my gay friends were once Boy Scouts. Two were Eagle Scouts.

I think it was the nifty kerchief/kneepants combo that attracted them. [Wink]

No it isn't, for a couple of reasons.

First, any mention of Nazis will bring associations that will taint any other points of similarity. If the Boy Scouts use similar tactics, why not compare the homosexual recruiters to Boy Scouts?

Second, the ultimate goal of Hitler Youth was to indoctrinate impressionable young people into hating others.

Third, and most importantly, what the heck is she talking about? Homosexual recruitment drives? Recruiters in classrooms? Where? When? What is she smoking?

I agree with you, Chris. The above was meant to be facetious. But I bet you'd guessed that already. [Wink]

Well, she did do one thing that I can admire:

quote:
She... was given seven hundred and thirty-four thousand dollars by Ronald Reagan’s Justice Department to study pornography.
I mean, wow. I wish I was this clever.

Yeah, my reaction was towards the bad comparison. But homosexual recruiters? She's on some sort of hallucinagin. As bad as any UFO conspiracy theorist there ever was...

Yea, and the only message I've ever heard at the meetings of our GSA is one of tolerance and acceptance of anyone.

Actually, Boy Scouts do tend to remind me of the Hitler youth groups. I don't really know why. I guess it's the uniforms and outdoor activities.
But, what I don't get is, where does she get this recruitment thing from? I can think of a half a dozen people I'd LOVE to recruit to the so-called homosexual lifestyle...

Although, I have had several friends of mine get crushes on OTHER WOMEN and NOT ME on several occasions.
It makes me so mad. If they must get crushes on someone, can't it be on me? How bad that is for my self esteem.

Anyway, I don't see where she gets this from. Whole entire classes full of people with a pink wearing teacher saying, "You too can be gay today!"
i don't think so.

What do you mean you people don't recruit? Haven't you heard of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Fankly, I'm surprised the American flag isn't pink, pink, and pink. (I was gonna say pink, white, and blue but that's way too tacky. Pink, pink, and pink is much more fabulous.)

OMG they did this at my school. They were like, come to our Gay Straight Alliance. We have ice cream.....

Seriously, though, parents got mad because they advertised having ice cream. They were using ice cream to lure people to homosexuality.

Also, this part of that editorial made me laugh.

quote:
Reisman also believes that Kinsey died not from heart failure but from what she calls “brutal, repetitive self-abuse.”

[ROFL] He onanized himself to death. [ROFL]

Posted by Alcon (Member # 6645) on :

Yeah, cause the whole point of a Gay-Straight Alliance is to turn straight people over to the dark side [Razz]

And we're very successful at it too [Wink]

But we don't give ice-cream, you get a toaster oven for every recruit. One of my friends has won two toaster ovens already, I haven't won any... I guess I'm just too straight myself to make people gay [Grumble]

[Frown] Sadly they later got rid of it because it was a "non-academic activity".. They also got rid of Amnesty International to lend the complaint viability... O_o

I recall Hitler having an alliance with someone too.

Oh yeah, Stalin.

Lesson: gays will never conquer the straight people, we're too big. And plus, where would more gay people come from then?

IIRC, it's the other way around. Hitler Youth was modeled after the Boy Scouts. Boy Scouts were disbanded, and Hitler Youths took its place.
