I was at the local bookstore, the one OSC goes to when he does book signings in town, buying an OSC book for an office gift exchange tomorrow, when I heard a lady ask one of the workers if the had the prequel to Ender's Game? She was obviously buying for a younger male relative, probably a nephew. The worker was not sure about it, and I spoke up. I told her I could not remember the name of the book, but it was not called Prequel to Ender's Game. The worker said that they had internet access and I told him to go to Hatrack and look in the Library section. He came back a few minutes later with the name "First Meetings"
While he was gone I told her about "Seventh Son" and "Enchantment". She picked up "Seventh Son". When the worker came back he said that they had 4 copies in stock. However we could not find them anywhere. Then he had a great idea. He checked the YF over in the kids area and there they were.
She walked out with two OSC books and I felt usefull.

Excellent. Don't you just hate employees who don't know where anything is?

Yay for msquared I was at a signing and helped a grandmother pick out Ender's Game for her grandson. He had never read any OSC before, but (according to grandma) loved to read. It was a great feeling, knowing that I may have helped inspire one of the next generation of OSC fans (hopefully not OSC-fans)
To top it all off, the woman was behind me in line to get things signed, and she mentioned to OSC that I had helped her pick it out. OSC then graciously reached into his changepurse and gave each of us equal parts of his share of the royalty on that book! (If I remember correctly, it was 35 cents)
