and there is a girl sitting diagonal from me crying. I have had a class of two with her but I don't know if I should say anything. Would you?

A good "What's wrong" might work. I can't help but do that if someone's around me crying. People who cry in public are usually looking for someone to help comfort them. Most probably don't care if it's a stranger.

She seems to be trying to hold it together though. I am not sure if she wants me to notice that she is upset.

I'd have to say something, personally. I'd probably lead with "hey, you going to be okay?," and follow with "if you need to talk...".

So, Allegra, how did you handle it?

if you did a thing rush or pizzo would have yelled at you for talking. I hope it worked out, since school's been over about an hour I'm sure it did at least a bit.

I'd've used my old standby (good for crying students): "You okay?"

I'm curious what you ended up doing as well.
