The cloud look on the walls looks so cool. I'd be tempted to do the ceiling like that too. Maybe even the floor, haha.

Wow, seriously, this is inspring. We're moving into our townhouse in a few weeks, and I keep pointing people to your page and saying, "I want to do something like that". [Big Grin]

But you know what you still need? Two words: Crown moulding. Mmmmmmmmm. [Wink]

Good stuff BannaOj. Things have been a bit slow for me workwise. Perhaps I could take a sabbatical to learn some faux painting techniques at the side of a master?

Lovely!

Having seen this room in person, I fully appreciate just how much BETTER it looks! That is awesome, AJ!

However, I keep wanting to see a "border" or trim of some kind around all the blue now -- I don't know why....

We aren't going to do a huge crown moulding but we are thinking of adding a small piece that is basically a triangle with a semi-circle cut out of it that would add just the touch. The rooms are too small to sustaine a huge crown moulding. Though another suggestion was to use a decorative rope with coordinating colors and tack it up like they've done in trading spaces. Steve's dad has done that and apparently it worked great. We realized we probably need something in all the bedrooms but that was lower on the agenda...

You know what's funny? I took one look at those pics and thought, "Now all they need is some crown moulding...." I wonder what it is about moulding that makes a room look "done."

Well it covers up the rough edges of the paint and makes a smoother transition between that and the ceiling. I think we are going to take a home improvement break for a while before we do that though. Just moving back in to an actual bedroom was nice!

I saw some pretty simple white crown moulding at Lowes the other day... I think it was $6 for 8 feet, it was made out of some sort of plasticky particleboard or something. Normally I avoid that kind of material, but it's not like anyone's going to be handling or closely inspecting the ceiling.... right? [Wink]

The shape that we saw at home depot was like #55 on this page http://www.flexibletrim.com/zago_9_02.htm It was about the same per square foot as the baseboard.

The rooms are kind of small to have a couple of inches of crown molding. What do you think?

You're probably right about the scale... and I think our rooms will be even smaller than yours. How much was the #55, if you don't mind my asking? [Smile]

I'll have to check again but it was somewhere between $0.48 and $0.98 per square foot (in otherwords under a dollar) at the Home Despot.

Heh, okay, sounds like the price is right, then. I couldn't believe some of the trim that costs like $8 a foot. Yikes!

AJ, it looks fantastic! I am so impressed.

I think that smaller stuff is called "coping". It's in the same general section at the Despot with the baseboards and crown molding but you might have to look a bit harder.

AJ
(grin, Despot, is what we call the Home Depot since it takes so much of our money...)
