If you could have magical powers what would they be and why? I would be able to teleport so that way I could........teleport?

Posted by King of Men (Member # 6684) on :

I think I would settle for the ability to talk readily to total strangers of the female kind.

Posted by Tater (Member # 7035) on :

I would be invisible so that I could mess with people.
But then I would be afraid it would turn out like Hollowman. I just wouldn't make as many enemies, and I wouldn't be as ugly as Kevin Bacon. [Big Grin]

I'm going with the ability to teleport, that way i could go see my Girlfriend without driving 6 hours

Mind control, teleportation, self-resurrection, telekinesis, telepathy/empathy, the ability to rip through the fabric of time and space, control of lightning and electricity, light and dark sides of the Force, etc.

All those...
And the ability to heal and make plants grow everywhere.

I think I'd like the ability to read books before they're written.

Posted by Vid (Member # 7172) on :

I would have the power to deny anyone else their own powers and use them for myself at will.

[Hat]

Posted by MidnightBlue (Member # 6146) on :

That's cheating! It's like using one of your three wishes to wish for more wishes!

Posted by Vid (Member # 7172) on :

No, because the limitation would be that I could only deny one person his or her powers, and as soon as I wanted to take on someone else's powers, I had to restore the first person's.

I'd use it for good! I wouldn't take flying from someone if they were in the air, I promise! [Smile]

I think it would be neat to have ears that enlarge and shrink at will. Good party trick n'stuff.

Oooh! I wanna be able to wiggle my nose!

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

ELJay, only if you post video of you trying to do it first.

It would be good for a laugh, I'm sure... [Big Grin]

Actually, I can wiggle the outside of my nose, but I want to be able to wiggle the middle. Like a bunny. I can't wiggle my ears at all. [Frown]

I don't believe you....have any pics or video to prove it? [Evil]

Posted by ElJay (Member # 6358) on :

How, exactly, could you prove that with a picture?

I now have three current and one future member of my family registered on hatrack. If you won't accept their testimony, I'm afraid you're just going to have to keep on not believing.

I thought about wanting the ability to control fire, but I don't smoke so the trick where you light a cigarette/cigar with your finger would go to waste. I also don't live anywhere with stuff to burn and what good is fire if you can't burn stuff with it? I thought about telepathy and mind control, but even I don't trust myself with that. I think it would be sweet to fly. Oh and maybe super human speed thrown in. Yup, that's all.

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

*raises hand* I can, in fact, wiggle my ears without touching them.

I'm with JT on the teleportation. Though my 37 hours beats your paltry 6. [Wink]

I was just talking about this earlier tonight with my friend. He wanted the ability to count really fast.

As for me, the only "super-power" I ever thought was really cool was being able to pause time. There was some Saturday morning live-action show about a girl who could do this that I used to watch when I was younger. I loved that idea...

Posted by raventh1 (Member # 3750) on :

Wait, you guys DON'T have super powers?

Posted by Synesthesia (Member # 4774) on :

I'd love to just be able to grab a person and know what they know instantly.
It would save so much time. Rather than spend 50 years learning Russian I'd just grab some Russian dude, put my hand on his head, and boom! Instant Russian!

The ability to speed up or slow down time at will, coupled with eternal youth for me and my sweetie.

Some powers would be great to have so that I could find out the answers to nature-of-reality questions. Like super-microscopic sight, so that I could watch what was going on down at the quantum level.

Or time travel/super warp speed/super invulenerability, to be able to go all the way back to the start of the Big Bang and see what REALLY happened. (And, ideally, if there was a previous universe, travel back into that one to see what it was like and what happened to cause its end.)

(Then, if I was really bad, then I could hang out at quantum physics conferences, and make obnoxious comments like "Superstring theory? Yeah, right!")

Right at this point in time, I wish my superpower would be to control the water, and be able to push back tsunamis before they reach the land......

But wouldn't it also land you a lot of jail time? I mean, if you started grabbing the wrong person? So time would balance itself out, probably.

Ever since I stood in a line halfway around the next block to see Star Wars in 1977, (I was 7 myself), I've wanted to be a Jedi. (Sure I know that there are people who have elevated their appreciation of the Jedi tradition and have turned it into a quasi-religion. And no, I do not want to to follow Jedi traditions in real life, even though there are those that do. I would want to be the true embodiment of a Jedi.)

I would cherish the padawan/master relationship and enjoy learning as much as teaching.

I would respect the power of the lightsaber and refrain from using it unless absolutely necessary.

I would feel the continual inner- struggle between good and evil and hope that my training and my very fabric of being would be enough to resist the dark side.

And I would hope that my hard work and dedication would make a difference in this world as I spend my life searching out perfection in my practice of being Jedi.

That and the cool robes and killer boots, no less.

My gamers and I discussed this and came up with the following list of D&D powers most useful in the real world!

Alter Self! Assume any shape or appearance of either sex within the scope of human norms. This one is the bomb, turn into a hot chick and become a stripper, change into a group of African Americans and rob banks.

Regeneration! Nuff said, save only that you do not age as well!

Teleportation! and along with it the ability to scry or Remote View locations to teleport too! (scout ahead)

Invisibility! just because it is the cool one!

Command! issue orders that bypass the ability to not obey.

Ultimate Orgasm! This one is not in the core rules but it causes an addictive orgasm that leaves the recipient craving more.

Telekinesis! For all the little things you want to do.

With this package a group or individuals could go pretty far in the world!

I want to sense, understand, and speak the chemical languages of plants and animals and insects.

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

Jenny, I thought of that, too, but I figured my ability to answer any question nicely took care of that. I'd just ask myself, after someone completed "speaking," "What's the best translation into English for what they just said?" or "How is my lettuce feeling right now?"

[Smile]

Tom -- except the only time that WOULDN'T work would be, say, if you're walking along a street and you're not able to hear the azalea bush yell to you "Watch out!" just before the bus jumps the curb...

(Of course, that's assuming that azaleas care that much about us. They might like squirrels better.)

Superpower- I would want to be able to transform into any living thing. Between animals, plants, and members of the opposite gender......I would also want to be able to alter the appearance of the thing I become to fit any situation.

Posted by Kama (Member # 3022) on :

I don't think I'd like to know what the feelings of my lettuce are.

Posted by plaid (Member # 2393) on :

What, no one replied to this one already?

Huh.

OK, I'll do it:

Kama, I'm sure any lettuce will die happily for the chance to be touched by your lips. [Razz]

I changed my mind. I want the ability to be in two places at once. That would make my life so much easier.

Posted by Cor (Member # 4295) on :

Alucard, you and I are the same age. Cool!

As for the powers, I would like all of Xena's abilities, the jumps, flips, sword twirls, pressure-point pinches, and her other skills like medical knowledge and so forth...without having to do that high-pitched scream to accomplish them.

Posted by The Pixiest (Member # 1863) on :

I would fix every aspect of my body that I am unhappy about. And not just the shallow ones like looks.

That would be power enough for me. [Frown]

Doesn't anybody else just want the ability to fly? I think flying would be the bomb.

It would also be useful to have Elastigirl powers, to stretch and reach things far away.

I always said that I would like to fly. I don't want to read other people's thoughts, that's just scary. Being able to go invisible would be cool, but I have a hard enought time getting people to notice me.

Besides, think of all the gas money you could save if you could fly. [Wink]

Teleportation. Think, and be there.

Plus, the ability to pull anything I want out of the air.

I'd love to orb like Paige from Charmed. It would be cool to orb myself or others, items, fireballs, and throw "orb balls" at my enemies. With all this whitelighter stuff, I don't see why healing wouldn't come in handy too.

EDIT: I think I'd save more gas than you Eruve [Wink]

Well, lately I've been on a WarCraft III fix and I can only think about the Heroes special abilities now so I'd have to say...

-Warden's 'blink'
-Priestess' 'starfall'
-Paladin's 'ressurect' (but we won't have to worry about that one in the future)
and -"Prancle's" (Keeper) 'force of nature' (create my own little tree minions like in LOTR)

I'd have a power I'll call the domino effect. What would happen is everything would always go my my. A series of small unrelated events would combine to ensure that things always go my way. Think of it this way: A hacker, while randomly surfing the web, would come upon a tool to hack the trafic manangment sowtware for cities, but only cities with outdated software. Meanwhile in the city I happen live in the IT department have become addicted to Hatrack, so instead of updating their software they are to busy posting. Back to the hacker, after a long seach he only finds one city with outdated software and hacks it. he randomly turns green light red and red lights green. The practical upshot is every light I come to is green while every street I drive on is virtually empty.
