[edit to add: Check out Kama's website version of this thread!!]

What a full and fast year this has been! I was thinking of Hatrack today and of all the events that showed up on our forum. There were events that truly were "Hatrackian" like KamaCon...and then there are personal events that became Hatrack events, like Sophie. [Smile] There were unpleasant events, touchy events *coughelectioncough* and truly sad events. I've been thinking about quite a few actually.

So here's the beginning of my look back. Please add events that stand out in your mind and all the many that I've forgotten.

February
OSC drops a bomb with his article about gay marriage The debate that ensues is long and heated and spawns several other threads of long and heated debate.

March
Bob and Dana. One date and happiness reigns. [Big Grin]

May
After much waiting and several false alarms, Baby Boon was born. Yay!!

July
Hatrack welcomes Sophie Davidson into the world! Much celebration ensues.

August
KamaCon complete with revelations received at KamaCon. Kama's visit from Poland takes it's place as one of Hatrack's largest events EVER.

November
Ugh. The election. Hatrack voted for Kerry, but Bush won and we watched. The aftermath was another slew of threads...

OSC asks for help on the latest in the Shadow series. It's coming out in March. YAY!!

December
Jamie and Nathan are getting married! Now!

So what do you guys remember on Hatrack this year? Help me fill in the calendar.

My family's a Hatrack event? [Cry] [Smile] [Kiss]

I feel so loved!

Well, I just remember you sharing everything about your pregnancy with us, your thoughts and everything leading up to the birth...

I guess that personal and family events become Hatrack events when you share them with us. [Smile]

Don't forget the "good cod OSC" dobie.

November: One of our favorite hatrackers spent some time in the hospital ( [Frown] ), but then we witnessed Elizabeth's miraculous recovery! (And we were all incredibly happy to see her back!)

December: The lovely Katharina hosts the second annual Hatrack Gift Exchange!

I won't.

[Smile]

Tony and I were engaged in April, but as we both knew each other before Hatrack it wasn't really a Hatrack event. I guess the same goes for Dagonee's wedding and Anna's wedding. (Phrased carefully so as not to suggest Dagonee and Anna married each other [Smile] ).

This was my first full Jan-Dec year of Hatrack and I enjoyed it. Thanks y'all! [Smile]

2004 was the debut year of the Pun Smackdown. (don't know how to do that fancy link thing)

Some Hatrack moments not previously mentioned that were important to me:

Wenchcon in January.

Midwest Gathering at dkw's in February.

On a very selfish note, my landmark in September. [Big Grin]

I need to say that seeing Farmgirl's "Best Wishes" thread before my wedding meant a lot to me. [Smile]

Elizabeth, should you want to make links, it's pretty easy. (Of course, you don't have to! [Smile] )

I'll write it so you can see it. I substituted "[" and "]" for "<" and ">" in the example below.

quote:
To link to TinyUrl.com, put brackets around "url=" followed by the address. Then type in the words you want to be underlined as the link, e.g., "Here is TinyUrl." Follow with closing brackets around "/url."

So, "<url=www.tinyurl.com>Here is TinyUrl</url>"

becomes Here is TinyUrl

once you replace "<" and ">" with "[" and "]".

Yay! This is fun!

I can't believe I didn't put Elizabeth on there...she was one of the first things to enter my mind too. I'm glad someone else picked up the slack as IMO, that was a HUGE Hatrack event this year. [Smile]

Where's that 'Rackademy Awards thread?

Posted by Kama (Member # 3022) on :

A Hatrack 2004 Calendar of sorts.

There are still a few blank pages.

You know, a caption for this page would be great.

Can we forget the Red Sox' victory? No we cannot!

(Eek! Sara, I tried the fancy link thing and failed miserably)

As per Icky's request. Captionned. Unless you want a different one, but you need to tell me.

In December, Jatraqueros donated to First Book.

Also in December, something happened that was so huge I'm surprised to see that it hasn't been mentioned yet. Perhaps it's still very close and real to us all. Tsunami strikes after strong earthquake.

You know, I'm stunned at how many people in that picture I could name; there were only a handfull I was unsure of.

Kama, I missed your awesome calendar before. That is really nice! Thanks for taking the time to add the pictures! [Big Grin]

Me, too. It's gorgeous!

That's SO cool!

(though, names to go with the group pictures might be a nice addition for those of us not cool enough to know everyone...)

I loved the page on Centaurion. It made me realize anew how much I missed him. I can't believe it when people like that die. I don't see how the world can let go of them.

*cough* Kama, I noticed that the April page of your calendar was blank. Quite frankly I'm shocked at this. I expected to open the page and find a huge picture of myself (how hideous would that be!) since that's the month I came to Hatrack. [Wink]

Space Opera, you only joined in April?

Crazy, I feel like you've been here for muuuch longer than that! [Smile]

Posted by Kama (Member # 3022) on :

Huh, I put the names under the wenchcon pic, too, but I can't see them now that I'm at work.

Speaking of looking back, today's my 4 year anniversary on Hatrack. I guess I really don't post all that much, do I?

Posted by BelladonnaOrchid (Member # 188) on :

Nato-obviously more than I do, although I've been around a lot more recently.

Happy anniversary. [Smile]
