Sorry, I just felt this wasn't getting enough attention on the other thread.

Pictures!

Some of you may have seen some of the pictures of my house when we moved in. If not, here is a picture of the front yard and what it normally looks like (check out the lower right hand corner. This is what the branches look like today, taken from the side of the tree. Also, we cut off the two lowest branches on that tree to begin with.

Notice the large "before" tree here on the right between the two windows. See how high up the lowest branches are? Look at them here.

Limb that fell between the tree and the lamp post, along with other various debris.

Pretty, pretty - ice. (had to use a hyphen or it looked like one picture.)

Oh, and a picture of the Methodist Church across the street!

And I just went out and looked again, and there is a limb hanging from the tree at least 20 feet off the ground. And it's a good 15 feet long. I have no idea how we're going to get that out of the tree. Of course, it could eventually just fall out of the tree, but I hope no one is underneath it when it does. [Eek!] (Actually, my husband and I disagree about how far it is off the ground and how far away it broke off from, but I've gone with his lower numbers.)

Kayla, the ice trees are beautiful. I haven't ventured outside to see if we got any of that nice glassy looking coat in our area.

I was surprised by how weighted down the limbs got. And so much dead fall!!! Yikes!

Maybe I'd better stay indoors in case the trees start dropping limbs on me.

[Angst]

Hehe, on that note...I was outside taking pictures after work. Of course, to get some of the pictures, I sauntered right up to the limbs that drooped over the sidewalks. I found the sound of limbs creaking above my head quite unnerving. Nothing fell on me, but I didn't waste a lot of time playing around under the limbs.

[Angst]

There was an ice storm in the northeast a few years back that decimated parts of the forest in the Adirondacks and Vermont. They can be deadly, but always provide a guaranteed snow day. As a teacher, I tend to root for them, but not for their dectructive side effects.

Oh my goodness! I forget that other places have snow and ice around this time of year. (Duh, stupid, it's January. (we need a smacking-self-in-the-head smilie))

It's 32 degrees outside here and they are forecasting snow. I'm wearing my wonderfully warm and soft thermal underwear. Famous last words, but I don't think we're going to get any snow. It's too warm.

All that ice made me want to go find a good fire and a big thick comforter and go to sleep for a couple of months. It's very beautiful.

What is this 'snow' and 'ice' you speak of? [Confused]

Pictures with sun!

And here is a picture of the limb hanging in my tree. (If you go to the top center of the picture and then go straight down, you'll see the broken end of the branch about a quarter of the way down.)

I like this one, too.

I still have to run the AC in my car.

Hey, it's 19 here. Practically a heat wave considering it was only 6 when I woke up this morning!

Beautiful pictures! I hope the storm didn't cause any problems for you guys though - no power outages? (I'm assuming not, since you're online and all)

I heard 30,000 on Kansas City lost power and there is one TV station in Topeka that has been off the air for 2 days, but we've been okay here. Kids for at least a 50 miles have been out of school for the last 2 days.

Kayla, may I post some more pics in here or would you prefer that I do that elsewhere? I took a dozen or so shots today and will share them but since you were first I thought I'd check with you before posting them.

As long as we're hijacking...

Hey punwit, remember Herkimer's? What did you think of the beer? (Besides the fact that they gave you too much.)

Posted by punwit (Member # 6388) on :

Eljay, my recollection of the beers is that they were good to quite good. I wasn't blown away but vaguely remember being pleased that there weren't any offensive flaws and that the beers were close to style. I must include the disclaimer that my palate memory is very short term, not to mention the fact that I was more focused on the scintillating conversation.

Thank you.

Were the beers ice cold?

Kayla...more nice photos! I love the ones with thousands of small icicles hanging from the power lines.

punwit, absolutely! The more the merrier. I'll change the title when you add them.

Ahhh, Bob's found the tie-in, so it wasn't a complete hi-jack.

And Bob, thanks. [Smile]

It might not be for right away. I'm in the process of making a pot of chili. Might be later tonight or tomorrow. Thanks btw.

The links worked, but they also wanted to tell me about hundreds of women in my home-town waiting to get with me. [Wink]

Neat pics! I really like the icicles dripping of the statue.

Changed the title so people would come look at punwit's photos.
