All right, I sent one out so far...the person who e-mailed me should have gotten one by now. Anyone else? Get 'em while they're hot!

I have 10! [Roll Eyes] I was down to one and they increased it on me. Email's in profile or easily guessed.

I've got 12! If you want one, just e-mail me a quiltmaniac at gmail

Posted by breyerchic04 (Member # 6423) on :

I have four or five, breyerchic04 at gmail dot com

but it looks like it's entirely people with ones to give, and no one wanting any, hopefully someone does.

Agreed. I don't expect to get many replies. The market for accounts seemed to become saturated soon after I got my account. I guess that's why Google hasn't made registration public yet.

Posted by Teshi (Member # 5024) on :

Hm. I used to want one, and then hotmail increased its size...

Sell it to me, are there any benefits?

The organizational scheme is very nice. When there are several replies bounced back and forth, gmail organizes it as one thread. This is really useful in the PBEM D&D game I'm participating in (the Khadanira campaign) because the emails are all grouped together and I can read them quickly. This is the main advantage of gmail. Also, you can download this nifty little program that automatically notifies you when you get an e-mail. I think it might be from the Firefox rather than the Google people, so if you use IE or Netscape, you might not be able to do this.

The search feature is also very cool. As is the fact that nothing is appended to your e-mails as with Hotmail or Yahoo.

Dang, I'd better check mine. And I'd better start doing something with it where I remember to check it more often.

I want one, someone sent me one a few months ago and I didn't activate it fast enough. Do I have to email you guys or can I just post my email here?

Is it true that gmail is now poppable?

Posted by Shigosei (Member # 3831) on :

Yes, there's POP access.

Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :

What's the pop address?

Posted by Shigosei (Member # 3831) on :

pop.gmail.com for incoming, smtp.gmail.com for outgoing, it looks like.

isnoop Gmail Invite Spooler

You can submit your extra invites to gmail@isnoop.net and whoever needs invites can request them from there. It's a pretty elegant solution.

I feel like gmail invites are in greater supply than demand, these days...

Ditto.

I thought the whole concept of invites was to eliminate the idea that anyone who wanted as many addresses as they wanted could sign up as many times as they wanted. But I guess it was only a matter of time.

That site is cool. I have one now. [Smile]

Posted by Synesthesia (Member # 4774) on :

Thanks. I think this is my 5-7th emaill address.

I have six also. Email me.

digging dot holes at gmail dot com.

I just gave five invites to that site, and they are already gone. Wow.

Posted by eslaine (Member # 5433) on :

I've got bunches, but I'm not actively trying to get rid of them.

Google can do their own marketing now. I like the service, but boy if there isn't a glut right now. [Roll Eyes]

Posted by digging_holes (Member # 6237) on :

Wow, I just got rid of all 50 of my invites by submitting them to that site. Google will probably soon send me 50 more, though.

Posted by Ela (Member # 1365) on :

Definitely, I gave away one, my number of invites went down to 49 for two days, now I have 50 again.

Posted by quidscribis (Member # 5124) on :

I have 50 as well. If you want one, email me at (my hatrack user name)@gmail.com.

Posted by Coccinelle (Member # 5832) on :

I gave away all 50 and immediately got 50 more! I'll never get rid of them! aaaahhhh!

I have a hundred burning a hole in my pocket.

Please email me and let me get rid of some of them.

Posted by pH (Member # 1350) on :

I've got a hundred gmail invites, too. And I'm sure I gave one out last week. But I still have a hundred.

Everybody has a hundred. Why don't they let everyone create a new account, it's getting ridiculous this way!

Posted by Ela (Member # 1365) on :

I totally agree.

Posted by Narnia (Member # 1071) on :

I think I have 98. I haven't been actively inviting folks because I figured anyone that wanted one, got one.

For those still wondering about the benefits, it's really a great interface. They provide you with even MORE space and it's so much less of a pain in the neck than hotmail. Hotmail has too many preliminary pages instead of just taking me to my dang inbox. And gmail seems to actually recognize spam, but that could be an illusion.

Posted by Uprooted (Member # 8353) on :

Lately gmail has been letting some spam through. Hotmail has actually been doing a pretty good job for me for the last little while. But my hotmail address is everywhere, and only a few individuals have my gmail addie. I don't know how anyone has it, actually, but a steady stream of viagra ads and ebay phishes have been making their way to my gmail spam box.

I'm easy to please--I get a kick out of the little "Hooray, No Spam Here!" message when I delete Spam from the box! ;-)

Posted by Ela (Member # 1365) on :

Hotmail sucks. That's my considered opinion. [Razz]

The only reason I continue to use it is because I've had several accounts for so long, and it seems like too much trouble to change them and notify everyone on my email lists.

I get more spam in Hotmail than I do in any other of my accounts.

Gmail and Yahoo Mail are much, much better.

Posted by Corwin (Member # 5705) on :

I don't get spam in either hotmail - which used to be my primary address - or gmail - which, admittedly I don't use a lot. On yahoo I get a few spams, all having something in common: they end with three-four lines of something unintelligible. Don't know what started them though and they come from different providers so I can't block everything. Fortunately even those are veeeery rare. I'm either lucky or just very careful. [Big Grin]

And a right fine opinion it is, too!

Is there anyone here who wants a gmail invite and doesn't have one?

I also have 100 if anyone wants one. Just drop me an email at JulieD15 at gmail.

I signed up for g-mail a couple of months ago without an invite.

I recently found their video uploader and hostinf which is pretty cool.
