This

and

this

are from a card that Walden Media recently sent to Narnia Web.

It's an extreme close-up of the interior art from the movie teaser stand.

Lucy near the Lamp Post, with the (probably much farther away in the actual film) fortress of Jadis visible as a grim presence in the distance.

A quote from the book on the inside, with what I assume will be one of the film's taglines written in ink.

My gosh, I can't wait for this movie.

Sweet! I can't wait for this. I think WETA Digital worked on this, so it should be Beautiful.

WETA did do a lot of work on this (especially on the weapons, armor, and creatures), but I think the digital stuff was done by somebody else.

EDIT: Rhythm and Hues are doing the digital FX. WETA is doing the rest of the stuff. [Smile]

I didn't think I'd be one of those people who complained about missing movie premieres while on a mission, but I am very tempted to start bemoaning my fate on this one...

You sound like my brother did when two months before he left a couple of years ago we saw the "Two Towers" teaser.

My sympathies.

Ah, that's good to know. R&H do really good work too. I'm really excited to see how they pull off Aslan.

Annie, when do you leave?

I missed Fellowship of the Ring, AND the first Harry Potter. [Mad]

It was fun to see the Brazilian movie posters though. I have pictures of me near the movie posters. [Smile] Yeah, I'm a dork.

At the 15th Annual Global Entertainment, Media, and Telecommunications Conference Disney played a new "making of" clip of the film, then announced that a real trailer would be available "soon".

How soon?

Dare I hope that Walden's "Because of Winn Dixie" adaptation will have a teaser?

And by the way...if ANYONE finds a clip of the thing they played at the conference online, please link it?

So far all I've found is an audio clip.

The first "official" photo of all four Pevensie kids:

*EDIT* Disney asked Narnia Web to remove the Pevensie Kids photo from their web site. [Embarrassed]

Counting down the moments until they start to release stills of the major Narnian characters.

(I expect we'll see Mr. Tumnus and the Beavers before we see Jadis and Aslan.)

I think Susan, Peter and Edmund look perfect, but does Lucy look young to anyone else? I don't remember how old she's supposed to be in the books, so she might be just right.

While I'm sure I've seen a timeline that gives the ages of the Pevensie kids when they first entered Narnia, all I can find in my copy of LWW is that Lucy was the "youngest".

The Pauline Baynes illustrations in the book show Lucy looking about the same age Georgie Henley ("Lucy" in the film) looks to be in the photo.

As long as she can act better than the girl in the BBC adaptation did, I don't care what her age is. [Smile]

I think she's perfect. I recall that when she first laid eyes on Prof. Kirke, she started crying. You have to be rather young for someone's appearance to affect you that way.

Also, they have to leave room for her to grow up in the sequels.

I just realised that the actor who plays Peter has almost the same last name as me. And when I was little, I always had a crush on the character Peter. Coincidence? I hope so...

My feeling was that Lucy was about five or so, Edmund about seven, Susan about nine, and Peter about eleven.

Of course, I was eleven at the time, and I identified with Peter most.

Ni!

What else has R&H done in the movies? The big name digital FX places are still WETA and ILM as far as I'm concerned.

The composer has done a lot of good stuff too. It seems all the elements are in place for a good movie. The only thing left to worry about is interpretation.

The Rhythm & Hues Web Page has the films they've done. Hmm! They won an Oscar for 'Babe' back in 1995.

(I suspect the WETA digital department might be busy with 'King Kong', though they do seem to be involved in the other aspects of LWW)

That makes me feel optimistic, Babe was a wonderful movie!

R&H also did Daredevil, Elektra (which had some pretty stunning visuals), Flight of the Phoenix, and for all you Firefly fans (me included!) they are doing the digital work for Serenity.

Does anyone know when the trailer for Serenity is coming out? It was supposed to come out before Elektra, but that was before they pushed back the release date for Serenity.

So I'd say that's a promising resume, and we can be pretty hopeful about its quality.

I'm such a geeky Narnia fan that I actually downloaded this HUGE "Disney Movie Surfers" clip just to watch the very, VERY brief clips relating to LWW.

"Movie Surfers" 2005 film preview

Shots of Lucy and Edmund near the lamp post, Jadis' Secret Wolf Police, the minotaur soldier from a different angle, and some kid being transformed into a dwarf through makeup.

I went through all that watching just to see 30 seconds of Mover Surfer fluff?

It was worth it =)

Until we get a real teaser and the movie portions of Walden's Narnia.com go active, I'll take any scraps I can find. [Embarrassed]

According to the timeline given in "A Companion to Narnia", Lucy was 8 years old at the beginning of LWW.

Posted by blacwolve (Member # 2972) on :

Ok, I was just going to post that I'd thought of Lucy as about 8 and Peter about 13, with Edmund 10 and Susan 12.

How close am I with the others?

Posted by Puffy Treat (Member # 7210) on :

On the nose.

The timeline given in CtN gives those respective ages.

Since Lewis never planned to write more than one book in the series (and up until Voyage of the 'Dawn Treader' he'd thought each book was the last one), he'd never made definitive timeline on Narnia. Thus, this should be taken with a grain of salt.

I think Lucy looks young to be eight years old. But that's just me.

Posted by Puffy Treat (Member # 7210) on :

The IMDB lists Georgie Henley's age as "9". Whether that was her age during the principal shooting (which wrapped up on December 19th) or now...I have no idea.

And I don't know that the timeline given in "Companion" is the one Walden is taking cues from.

More conceptual art has been released.

Mr. Tumnus and Lucy meet in Lantern Waste (I think this was the one glimpsed in the WETA clip)

Centaurs, Talking Beasts, Ogres, Minotaurs, and others during the climactic battle.

Peter, Lucy, and Susan's first meeting with Aslan.
