A headline right now on CNN:
"Poll split on whether Bush uniter, divider."

[Smile]
That is all.

Posted by Bob_Scopatz (Member # 1227) on :

That's just precious.

Posted by Ralphie (Member # 1565) on :

Going just off visuals, I'd say definitely divider.

Posted by Dan_raven (Member # 3383) on :

Well, a vote of the voices in my head say 3 to 2 with 12 abstaining that he is a divider.

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

Oh, I don't care whether he is or not. I'm just thinking that we as a society may no longer need The Onion.

It depends. If you have one Bush, it's just a bush. But if you have two Bushes, you can place one above the other to make a two-level effect with a nice little path running in between.

You know what is an even bigger giggle you bleeding heart liberal?

[Hail] BUSH WON!!! [Hail]
[The Wave] BUSH WON!!! [The Wave]
[Party] BUSH WON!!! [Party]

You liberals keep up your hate mongering. Please. That way 06 and 08 can be even bigger victories for conservatives. Without you we might have been stuck with a moderate. Thanks you!

Oh another giggle…

No one watches CNN anymore. FoxNews out rates them.

Big time.

Combine all the others and you still don’t come close!

Jay, what on earth are you talking about?

Posted by Ralphie (Member # 1565) on :

Jay. Look at the innuendo within the text.

Poll (pole). Bush. Divider/uniter.

It has nothing to do with politics. (Am I nuts, or should this one really not have to be explained?)

Posted by Jay (Member # 5786) on :

Gee……
Tom’s subject: giggles.
The sources: CNN & Tom. Both Libs
So, Tom is enjoying some negative press for President Bush. Why do you think he posted it?
I just like to remind him is all! (Bush won)
And of course this has to do with politics. It’s naive to say it doesn’t.

Nah…. I’m not a troll. I like the elves better.

Posted by PSI Teleport (Member # 5545) on :

Actually, with the *giggle* title, I assumed someone had stolen Tom's logon.

"Are you a troll?"
Hmmmmm..... this is a tough one...

"bleeding heart liberal"
"You liberals keep up your hate mongering. Please. That way 06 and 08 can be even bigger victories for conservatives. Without you we might have been stuck with a moderate. Thanks you!"

"No one watches CNN anymore. FoxNews out rates them."

My professional opinion would be either 13year old troll from Kentucky, or 37 year old repressed liberal troll with severe leanings twords communism who lives in Alaska(or West Virginia [Wink] ). Your guess is as good as mine as to which. But I'm sticking to the troll diagnosis.

edit: That elves comment kind of pushes them over the edge into 13, I'm thinking..

Okay, now I'm doubting the original purpose of this thread and wondering if I just have a particularly dirty mind.

I mean, I know I do. But still, I thought this one was self-evident.

Being a divider is better than being an adder.

It's just you, Ralphie.

Posted by gnixing (Member # 768) on :

i think there are several innuendos that can be taken from the title.

the dirty one did not come to my mind till you pointed it out ralphie! [No No]

How could Tom have giggled over anything BUT a dirty post????

Posted by Synesthesia (Member # 4774) on :

Jay, stick to talking about food...

Posted by PSI Teleport (Member # 5545) on :

I think it may be a bit early to be crying troll, but inflammatory is not uncalled for, I don't think.

Posted by gnixing (Member # 768) on :

i thought it was funny that the poll, which is trying to determine if bush was a uniter/divider, was split. that was my first thought. the dirty one is funny too...

Posted by Dan_raven (Member # 3383) on :

Bush detractors believe he is a divider, which is silly since he's doing one heck of a job uniting them.

Bush supports agree that he is a uniter, especially when he announces his plans to ship anyone who disagrees with him to Guantanamo as Enemy Combatants.

Posted by gnixing (Member # 768) on :

likewise. though i prefer ralphie's take on it.
[Wink]

Posted by Boris (Member # 6935) on :

Divided uniter? United divider?
Would there be a difference?
Would you care if there was?
Would you like a sandwich?

No, you are either too immature of too ignorant to notice otherwise, that is all.

I wish slashdot would implode. [Mad]

Posted by WheatPuppet (Member # 5142) on :

Slashdot is fine. It's the junkies that stick to it that are difficult.

I definitely thought the way Ralphie did, originally. I was going to post something more risque, but I decided Monty Python was more Hatrack-acceptable.

Jay, I don't want to sound mean, but get over it. An "us versus them" attitude is always the wrong one.

WheatPuppet, it's people like you who make it hard to have a nasty argument here! Go away!

I think that in order to gloat about Bush winning you should have to be old enough to have voted for him.

Or act like it, anyway.

Shigosei, that was an uncalled-for remark. And stop trying to raise your post count through silly banter.

While the dirty interpretation frankly never occurred to me, I'm relieved that Ralphie's still holding up her end of that bargain.

That said, yes, I found the subtext of the poll -- that the nation was divided on the issue of whether or not Bush was a divider -- to be amusing.

In fact, my second post in this thread was intended to defuse the political commentary I feared it might otherwise receive, since it's not essential to the Funny (although I'll admit that a little political bias in one direction makes the Funny a bit more poignant).

I had to look twice. Actually, three times, but one was because I was distracted by something in the office.

I have to say, the image I get of Tom pressing his fingers to his lips, with the fingertips pointing straight up toward his nose, and kind of squonching inward while emitting a high pitched, girlish giggle, is one of the most distrubing things Hatrack has ever inspired me to visualize. [Angst]

I can't believe this thread exists. It is so messed up on so many different levels.

*backs slowly away from thread of Tom giggling*

Posted by ClaudiaTherese (Member # 923) on :

Tom is a remarkably cheerful soul. One with a penetrating, sharp-as-a-knife glance, but yes, definitely cheerful.

Posted by Christy (Member # 4397) on :

I have to say that Tom doesn't really giggle in person.

He explosively laughs in a pure expression of delight, which has recently been followed by sheepish looks as Sophie wails from being startled awake and I glower.

He often giggles in writing, though, which leads me to believe that there are many times that he must just be giggling on the inside.

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

In MeatSpace, I am an expansive hunk of man-flesh. Consequently, the few laughs that manage to escape can be generously described as "guffaws;" they have to be, to penetrate my meaty bulk.

I produce in addition to these guffaws and/or chortles many hundreds of giggles a day, which sadly never manage to percolate to the surface.

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

I can see the guffaws--I can see chortles. Snickers, snorts, belly laughs, broad grins, subtle smiles...all of this I can see. But giggles? I'm still skeptical.

Ralphie, I didn't even think of the dirty connotations until you brought it up.

She's corrupting us all!

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

The point, of course, is that you do not see the giggles. They die unborn, and join a great gestalt of merriment within my ample belly.

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

Tom, I hope for Christy's sake that those giggles do not build up and explode from the other end. Just let them free!

::wrinkles nose:: I know. Sorry about that. It appears that, when they handed out Hatrack nitches, I got the dirty dirty one.

He's intelligent, witty; he has huge... tracts of land. What's not to like about him?

(However, I also most frequently guffaw, and I'm not particularly hunky.)

*rotfl* I've been told that my personal guffaws/shrieks of laughter are my most endearing yet simultaneously annoying personality trait.

Tom may not giggle much, but he certainly is jolly. I think jolly people emit *giggles* all the time.
