I just got an e-mail from someone who said that he'll be missing classes tomorrow because of a death in the family ( [Frown] ), and he'd like me to send him any important happenings (like homework assignments). Thing is, I have no clue who he is or what class he's in with me. I'm in 5 classes tomorrow, and all of them are big enough that I don't know anyone's name in any of them. But somehow he got my gmail address (which I don't give out a whole lot), so I must know him. I'm hoping I can find a picture online or something but if not, I'm going to have to e-mail this poor guy and ask him who he is and wont that be a big ego boost for him. [Embarrassed]

I was once accosted twice in the same week by a girl who said we'd met at a party. Both times, I didn't remember her. That was embarassing.

That happened to me once. Turned out that one of her friends hated me and got her to do that to me just to make me nervous.
That is a pretty nasty thing to do. [No No] Shame on her.

Is it possible your university has a system where students can e-mail their classmates automatically and that you have mail from your univsersity account automatically forwarded to your gmail account, because FSU has that system.

It's possible but I don't have any of my mail forwarded.

I'm having big trouble finding this guy, does anyone know of a good person search that would pop up with a picture? I think I've found the name of his wife and I've tried using all sorts of variations on that with his name in google and haven't come up with anything. :-/

I had someone walk up to me at a party and say "Do you remember me, Carrie?" I kinda looked at him, squinted, and said "Um, Justin?"

No. His name was Eric. And I went to high school with him for three years, and saw him whenever I accompanied my mother to the grocery store - he was a bagger. Oops.

I've posted this before, but I'll do so again...

I used to work for a musical instrument store in Brisbane, Australia. Now I've got a really good memory for faces, but every now and then this fabulously good looking girl would drop by to say hi and catch up when she was in the neighbourhood.

Trouble is, I could never recognise her. Ever.

However whenever she came and said hi, I'd always reply correctly: "Hi Xanthe!"

I always knew it was Xanthe because I was being addressed by a seriously attractive woman whom I completely failed to recognise.

And I was never wrong. [Big Grin]

Yeah, Troub, I remember reading that elsewhere before. I swear, you posted it using the exact same wording as last time. Or did you just cut and paste? [ROFL]

Nah, I couldn't find it - no cut and paste.... but I'm told I'm quite idiosyncratic - which I presume extends to my turn of phrase, not just my physical quirks...

That's actually a strategy teachers use sometimes. Use the wrong name, and it doesn't matter. They think you recognize them, but you just can't remember their name. They'll correct you and on you go.

Hey Hobbes. It was me. I'm in all your classes with you, and when I said "anything important", I was thinking like a word-for-word transcript of anything the teacher says along with detailed diagrams of whatever gets written on the board.

Thanks. You're a chum. [Smile]

Hey, no problem, especially since I slept durring two of my classes. [Cool]

I once got picked up at a convention by a girl who introduced herself as a long-lost friend; she knew my name and home town.

Turns out she got both pieces of information off my nametag. *laugh*
