Congratulations, y'all. [Smile] [Smile]

[Party]

That much coolness just shouldn't be allowed to congregate in one single family.

Seems wrong, somehow.

(But oh-so-right . . . ) [Wink]

Oh! Is it Saturday over there?

Congratulations, by the way. I second the picture thing.

Oh, man! I forgot tomorrow is sometimes today.

Congrats!

Okay, the chicken dance. I keep hearing people refer to the chicken dance as a wedding occasion, but I've never experienced and never seen it. I've only been to a few receptions that involved dancing, but even at those, no one ever did this.

I've also watched Four Weddings and a Funeral, and no chicken dance.

Is this a standard joke/threat (like the baby-eating thing), or does it really happen? And, will I get to watch Hatrackers doing this at Bobandana's wedding?

It definitely happens - you can see it in the opening wedding scenes of the Godfather. It's been at every east coast wedding I've ever been to.

Posted by dkw (Member # 3264) on :

Yes, it is really a wedding thing.

No, it will not be played at our wedding.

Posted by ClaudiaTherese (Member # 923) on :

Katie, the Chicken Dance really is done at weddings, at least in Indiana. There is much arm-flapping with elbows akimbo.

Yay, imogen and scythrop! Whoo hoo!

Ooops. Forgot to say Yay Imogen & Tony!

[Party] <--- not the chicken dance.

Posted by Icarus (Member # 3162) on :

Kat, I will chicken dance with you, to the tune of another song if they don't play the Chicken Dance Song. 'kay?

I'm very jealous that yet ANOTHER couple is getting married before us.

But I hope you had a wonderful day and that God laughs with you all your days.

Kat, if The Godfather is too heavy a movie for such a cheerful dance, I think it was in He Said, She Said, too.

Congrats, imogen and Scythrop.

It's also in Meet the Fockers, of course. [Big Grin]

Oh, and we did it right after the Electric Slide and the Time Warp at my cousin's wedding (in CA).

Posted by Lady Jane (Member # 7249) on :

Taal told me not to go see Meet the Fockers...

So the chicken dance is real. Attending a wedding = barnyard animal imitations. This is a bizarre culture.

Icky, I'd be delighted to dance with you. [Smile] The chances of me imitating a chicken, however, are very, very low. In the spirit of odd dances and weddings, I can do the Macarena.

Shucks. [Blushing]

Thanks everyone!

After a frantic day of organising yesterday, I think we are ready to go. Relatives have arrived from Sydney, Hong Kong, Spain, London and New Orleans. My dress has been altered. The flowers should have been picked up. Accomodation is sorted. The chicken dance has not been organised.

[Big Grin]

Time to enjoy.

I will post pictures when I can - probably not until late next week, but I'll get them up.

Have fun everyone - the next time I post will be as a married woman! [Smile]

[edit: to Katie] Pfft. The chicken dance is FUN!

Congrats, Imogen and Tony! [Big Grin] May your special day be the first of many many happy married days.

He who does chicken dance at dkw's wedding ends up with egg on his face. And a serious dry cleaning bill at the tux rental place.

I wonder what imogen's first post as a married woman will be like.

Thanks everyone. ::checks to make sure Imogen is in the other room:: my suggestion for a pirate wedding was totally over-ruled, but I'll see if I can slip a chicken dance in there for y'all [Big Grin]

Seriously, thanks for all the good wishes.

Cheers

The chicken dance is great fun, and I am happy to read that it is not just an east coast thing!

And Katie, it depends on your sense of humor. I loved Meet the Fockers, it was way better than Meet the Parents. However, I would never, ever recommend it (or even say that I'd seen it) to my mother-in-law. As I said, it depends.

You're jealous? Hey, at least you have a date...

You people and your spring and your darned love. *grumble grumble*

Edit to Add: Hey, imogen, can I have the bouquet?

Sure Mayday! I don't know how well it will travel though...

Thank you all for your good wishes and congratulations. The evening was absolutely wonderful.

My dress was amazing, Tony looked fantastic and I even made him (sort of) cry when he saw me walking down the aisle. The priest was fantastic, the ceremony short and sweet but heart felt and everyone enjoyed the party.

All in all, wonderful.

Tony and I have spend the last day and a half admiring each others rings and calling each other 'husband' and 'wife' at every possible opportunity.

I need a blissful newlywed smilie. [Smile]
