I need to borrow a friend's piano this week, and to butter them up for it, I want to send some poetry about music.

But the problem is that I don't have a single poem about music in the back of planner. A couple of quotes, but no real poetry.

Does anyone have a favorite? I realize that writing about music is like dancing about architecture, but surely there's Grecian revival pirouette of a poem out there. [Smile]

If music be the food of love...

Well, then he might get the wrong idea. [Big Grin] I'll have to dig around and look.

Ok, here's this one: Originally in German

Oh sacred art, how oft in hours blighted,
While into life's untamed cycle hurled,
Hast thou my heart to warm love reignited
To transport me into a better world!

So often has a sigh from thy harp drifted,
A chord from thee, holy and full of bliss,
A glimpse of better times from heaven lifted.
Thou sacred art, my thanks to thee for this.

That one's by Franz von Schober.

I can think of songs about music, but not really poems.

Rumi has some... But I can't find my Rumi Book.
