Does anyone else see this as a sub theme this season?

I am not sure what is spoiled, but I added "spoilers" to the title in case someone goes into detail.

SPOILERS

Once he figured out what was coming, why was he so slow with the shovel?

*SPOILERS*

It takes guts to bludgeon someone you know and like with a shovel, even if there's a significant chance they're supposed to kill you.

SPOILERS

He didn't seem liked he liked him. Why couldn't he have just him once and got the gun? Then he could have threatened him with it and then drove away without even killing him.

I was under the impression from the father that he was ordered to have his son killed as opposed to would be hitman's statement that his father was behind it. Am I mistaken?, is the father hiding something?, or was the hitman lying to protect the real culprit?

*spoilers for tonight's episode*

Driving away and leaving a hitman who wanted to kill you alive would be a very bad move. He would just have come after him as soon as he could.

Whether the father lied, or the hitman lied, its hard to tell. While I would not put it past the father to have his son killed, if that was the case...I really don't think the hitman would have told the truth. It just seems to be out of character for someone that high in their organization.

SPOILERS

How is the hitman going to come after him again? They're obviously in the middle of nowhere and the kid took the car. It just seemed like an awfully big risk to wait when the hitman could've decided at any point to end it.

Spoiler

I think the kid with the shoval thing was done really well. Remember, this is a teenager in huge emotional conflict. Even if he knew the hitman was going to kill him, it is still a big task to "off" somebody.

True it was self defense, but it was "preemptive" self defense. I was afraid he would not be able to pull it off.

Very well done!

Like the other post in this thread... **SPOILERS**

I was cheering. I like Beruz!

I'm certain the hitman was telling the truth. Mr Araz knows his kid is an American. He said to his wife "I don't think he believes in our cause anymore... If he ever did."

Now the question is, will Beruz go to the police? What about his Mom? The scenes (it flashed by so I may have seen it wrong) had him driving off with his Mom in the car. She really IS guilty of whacking her son's girlfriend (Debbie? forgot her name.)

Anyway, now we know what the big plan is. Taking remote-control of 104 nuclear reactors. So it's nuclear terrorism again, but not a bomb.

SPOILERS

The father made it sound like that's why he didn't stop the killing, not why he ordered the killing.

Why can't they manually shut down all the power plants so that they can't be set off remotely?

POSSIBLE FUTURE SPOILERS

In 24 the game on Fox's website which was released prior to this episode, you have to stop a terrorist from setting off a nuclear plant in Las Vegas. I'm suprised that they apparently gave away some of the future plot in the game and maybe even what the final episode comes down to.

*Spoilers*

Having one father in the show authorize torture against his son and having another father send his son off to be killed by a hitman is very disturbing to me.

I think the writers have some serious issues with either their sons or fathers.

Heller was ready to sacrifice himself and his daughter for his country. Authorizing what amounts to extreme bordom as torture for his son is nothing.

And it's certainly not like Mr Araz cold heartedly calling in a hitman to off Beruz.

He was ready to sacrifice himself, not his daughter. It wasn't until she convinced him they were both going to die anyway that they headed for the gas.

The last scene of the son being interrogated did not look extremely boring to me.

What is it like then? It certainly wasn't warm hearted. He certainly didn't try to save or warn his son.

Heller tried to get his son to tell him who the leak was and his son refused over and over. And what they were doing was sensory deprivation. What would you call it if not "extreme bordom as torture" They're not sticking him with needles or flaying any part of him. They're not even holding a gun to his head to scare him. They're putting a blindfold on him and something over his ears. yay.

I thought the screaming and such was just bad acting, but then again, Heller's son has shown himself to be a big whiney baby.

Good point. I thought they where blasting his ears with some high pitched sounds. It now occurs to me that is was probably just his son's whining. lol

It's not just sensory deprivation, they were also messing with his senses -- the high pitched whine noise, light, etc.

So it's a little more than extreme boredom...regardless, it goes past the point of "being bored" when you can neither see nor hear properly, or at all.
