*raises hand*

I'm currently fighting my eyelids from drooping shut.

Mack, try eating something protein rich in the afternoon. It used to help me a lot. A few pieces of chicken, a boiled egg, or a protein bar.

*raises hand as well*

It's an annoying problem I have that often gets in the way of my plans, such as frisbee practice at school, getting work done, etc.

Me too. I have stuff to do, but I'm having a hard enough time keeping my eyes open.

Liz, I just went to boil an egg. We had one left.

I went to get it out of the container, and it stuck. Stupid thing had a crack underneath. [Frown]

S'okay. I'll send Nathan out for food when he gets home any minute now. He'll be hungry too! [Big Grin]

Only when I don't have time to take a nap. I don't have to actually take the nap, you understand. I just have to have the time to take one to avoid needing to.

mack is your Adderall or Ritalin or whatever you take timed release?

I told my doc that I got sleepy every afternoon, no matter what. We determined after some trial and error that the Adderall was wearing down, before the next "wave" of medicine was released.

Do you eat a lot of sugar? If you give it up, that mid-pm slump often goes too!

I used to be addicted to Mountain Dew, and I NEEDED it by about 3pm or I would fall asleep no matter where I was. With the Mountain Dew, I'd get sleepy by about 6 or 7ish, but I could stay awake.
Then, I gave up sugar, and my sweet, sweet Dew. Good god, that was hard. But I stopped getting sleepy during the afternoons. Of course, I almost committed murder many times before my body rebalanced itself, but it made me feel so much better that it was worth it.

Belle, you're RIGHT!

It's the timed release Concerta. Brilliant!

I'm tired at 5:00 today, but it's probably because I was up till 4:30 last night.

I usually do. Then I just take a nap.

Drastically reducing caffeine and sugar in my diet helped eliminate the afternoon doldrums.

Mack (hey, how you doing girl?!)

You probably know the questions I'm going to ask you to think about, but humor me.

1. Heard of Excessive Daytime Somnolence? (of course you have)
[Sleep]
2. What is your p.m. caffeine intake look like?

3. Do you snore? (apnea?)

I, too, get tired every afternoon around 4:30-5:00... which is, unfortunately, when I am on my 45 minute commute home from work.

Not saying I believe in angels, or anything, but I'm consistently amazed at how alive I am when I get home.

actually, now that I think about it, my "Afternoon dropsies" as I call them, became MUCH milder when I stopped putting sugar in my coffee and just drank it black.

The afternoon stupor.

That's about the time for me, but then again I might as well be nocturnal with the sleep schedule I keep at school.

*tackles nikki*

1. Yes.
2. diet soda and water
3. Nope, no snoring, no apnea. But I do have nightmares. I question whether it's nightmares or night terrors. When I have "regular" nightmares, Nathan doesn't wake up and I can remember them. When I have the "other" nightmares that I wonder if they're night terrors, I wake up freaked out and soaked in sweat and it ALWAYS jerks Nathan awake.
