Last Tuesday (a week ago) my mother fell and broke her hip. She's 80. They did surgery the night she fell, kept her in the hospital until Saturday, and now she's in a rehab facility to get the therapy she needs to get back on her feet. She hates the rehab place, so she's really motivated to work hard so she can come home. And I'm not thrilled with the place either, but the staff seems good so I'll not complain yet. But, I want her home. So any prayers, good vibes, and so on you might be willing to send this way would be really appreciated. Thanks.

How are you doing, lma?

Y'all are in my prayers.

My grandmother broke her hip several years ago and was able to make a good recovery. One thing that was difficult for her was re-learning how to get into a car. You can't put your leg in first, you have to sit down and swing your body around. It's hard when you've getting into a car the same way for decades. Just something to watch for when you finally get to take her home.

Thank you all for good wishes, prayers, and greetings. She seems to be doing well, except for the fact that her digestive system isn't happy right now. The nurses think it's a side effect of some of the medication; I think it's the food at the rehab place. Not very appetizing looking, and way, way too many peas and carrots (which can cause that kind of problem, in my experience [Razz] ).

Anyway, they had her up and walking with assitance and a walker yesterday, and the CNA and the nurse both said that she looked like she did pretty well with it and that she didn't look like she was having too much pain.

I'll pass on all your wishes, along with that advice about getting in the car. Thanks.

Edit to answer CT's question: I'm doing okay, considering my anxiety issues with anything even vaguely medical. [Embarrassed] I'm kind of tired - been doing lots of running around, between taking care of stuff and going to visit with my mom. I'm staying with my best friend, so that's helping a lot, especially with the stress and anxiety part of it. Thanks for asking.
