Anyone else here subscribe to NetFlix?

They have a (relatively) new feature where you can have your friends see what you've been watching and what you rated the DVDs you've watched. It's pretty cool and can give you both insite in to your friends, and often good recommendation on what to watch or to avoid (depending on how much you trust your friends' taste.)

Anyway, if there are any Hatrack Netflixers who'd like to trade friend invites, I'd love to hook up with you. (I use the same email address for Netflix as I use in my profile here, not that it matters too much apparently).

I do.

Just go right into my profile.

Added, and added. Just log on to Netflix and you'll get my invite.

ME ME ME!! Profile addy should be good. [Smile]

*blinks* Why did I get a flood control warning on this? I haven't posted anything else today, I don't think.

Add me! We're under my husband's e-mail-- hamiltonjeff AT sbcglobal DOT net.

Posted by KarlEd (Member # 571) on :

I have added all of you. Don't forget you'll have to add each other. It's not so much a group thing as it is individual connections.

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Sent to everyone. [Smile]

Posted by KarlEd (Member # 571) on :

Boy! you guys are all newbies. For "movies rated" I'm pushing 1500. Syn is second, but he's only got 338.

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

I just told my husband what I did and he said, "Oh, well, we should probably take the Playboy and Girls Gone Wild DVDs off our list, then." [ROFL]

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

(I thought Syn was a girl?)

Me too. Email's in my profile.

I don't know if I can take the ridicule, but go ahead and add me. Sounds like fun.

Just remember that Andrew is also on the account, too. And I have a weakness for man eye candy that doesn't necessarily reflect my taste in movies.

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Yay! I now have 4 friends and 3 invites on my list. [Big Grin]

Hey! Who hated Family Guy?

Posted by Olivetta (Member # 6456) on :

kq, not me, I don't think...

Um, I just realized I had no movies voted "Hated it" and that's just wrong. So, for the record, I HATED Disco Pigs. I have no idea how it got in my queue, unless I mistook it for that one about disaffected 70s youth I read about in EW.

It was weird and largely unintelligible, notable only for the lilt of (unintelligible) Irish dialogue, a protag that narrates her life story starting in the womb, and Cillian Murphy's beautiful blue eyes (and strangely off-putting shirtlessness).

Evidently, I invited SOMEBODY in this thread and now have no idea who it is. They probably don't know me either. Altogether embarrassing.

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Now, see, I was looking at Disco Pigs and thinking, "Wow, that looks like something I'd enjoy, except for the gratuitous violence!"

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

You can rate any movie - not just ones you've rented. That's why the number I've rated is so obscenely disproportionate [Smile]

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

I've done some of that. Now, granted, I don't spend all my time at Netflix because I spend it here, but I've done some.

Posted by Strider (Member # 1807) on :

I want in too.

email is in profile.

Posted by Olivetta (Member # 6456) on :

I now have a Netflix friend that I don't know who it is... I only know your Hatrack name. Lynn G. who are you? I figgered out everyone else.

Posted by Olivetta (Member # 6456) on :

Oh, and Disco Pigs wasn't all that bad. It was short, which was good. It was kind of obvious that it was a first time filmmaker. Moody, slow song while a guy gets his head beat in, though... EEEW.

Posted by Lady Jane (Member # 7249) on :

[Wave] I hated Family Guy. I could barely watch a whole episode.

In the spirit of NetFlix, I watched A Chorus Line last night. It is astonshingly bad.

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Katie, we love Family Guy around here-- let me change my earlier recommendation to you.

I don't recommend you see either Meet the Parents or Meet the Fockers. If you don't like Family Guy, you're going to turn them off before the good part.

Posted by Strider (Member # 1807) on :

shoot, i realized i use a different email for netflix. it's the same thing @yahoo.com. Sorry!

Does that make a difference though? cause i added those that sent me invitations, and i can still add you through your emails, so non-issue right?

Posted by Synesthesia (Member # 4774) on :

I used to hate Family Guy. Then, as I dled episodes it grew on me. I still think South Park is better.
But, i used to like King of the Hill then I started to hate it and get annoyed by it.

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

I still love King of the Hill, but that's 'cause since moving to Texas, I've met people like that... [Eek!]

Posted by Goody Scrivener (Member # 6742) on :

I've been on Netflix for over two years. I hadn't gotten around to doing the invite thing but now I will. My Netflix email is sewunicorn at comcast dot net. I'll harvest this thread for addresses later.

Edit: Strider, it says that it won't matter if I use a different email than you've joined under, that somehow they'll match you up.

I just wanted to say I like your style Goody Scrivener. [Smile]

Posted by Goody Scrivener (Member # 6742) on :

Already raiding friends' lists....

And thanks to KQ - now I know that Wrinkle in Time is on DVD... Heather's been begging me to buy that one when it comes out!!

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Oh, man, that movie blew...

You said it sister! [Wink]

That said, Chris also suggests movies to watch so I can't be blamed for anything you see coming out of our queue. But the ratings are all mine, so feel free to disparage my tastes mercilessly as far as ratings go. [Smile]

Posted by Goody Scrivener (Member # 6742) on :

KQ - it did but Heather has little sense of taste LOL

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

I love the book, but there were parts of that movie where we were completely [Confused] , parts where we almost fell asleep, and parts where I was so mad to what they were doing to the characters (especially Mrs. Murphy)...

Posted by Da_Goat (Member # 5529) on :

I THINK I'm using blackfootandslim AT yahoo.com . That's what I use for my sign in name, anyway, but I vaguely using a different email on a page on Netflix. Could somebody try adding my yahoo one?

And forgive me for the lack of ratings. I just made this profile.

Posted by Goody Scrivener (Member # 6742) on :

Okay, Goat, I just added you to my list using your Yahoo account. let's see what happens!

Posted by Da_Goat (Member # 5529) on :

Hey, if you've rated 123 movies and gave Mary Poppins five stars, it worked!

*jumps with glee and adds everybody*

Posted by Da_Goat (Member # 5529) on :

Daniel F. is me, by the way.

Posted by Goody Scrivener (Member # 6742) on :

gave Mary Poppins five stars
that would be me

And I have my own custom names - mostly Hatrack ID's - on my Friends page for everyone, I don't know if those names showed up on the invites. I knew I'd never remember people by their real names or emails, so instead I see Da_Goat and Annie of the Pants (so I remember which Annie LOL) and so on.

<ressurects thread from ashes>

So, all of you guys now have invites from me. I couldn't resist adding since I'm looking for good movie recommendations.

Posted by Goody Scrivener (Member # 6742) on :

Got your invite and added you to my list, PC =)

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

I plan to sign up for Netflix in a couple weeks. (If I do it now, I will have yet ANOTHER way to avoid cleaning the house and car, and catching up on errands and grading papers. That would be bad. Now I just have to keep telling myself that . . .)

Posted by Susie Derkins (Member # 7718) on :

I added you too, PC. Unfortunately, my tastes are a little weird. Maybe, though, I can be one of those "what not to watch" guides for y'all. [Wink]

Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :

Woohoo! I'm halfway to being cool [Razz] .

Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :

Annie,

I'm the one with A Better Tomorrow and Fried Green Tomatos in their queue.

Signed up.

Added all of y'all with visible email eddresses (in thread or in profile). Yelp if I missed you, or just go ahead and invite me with the email in my profile. [Smile]

Yay! I have friends! [Big Grin]

Ok, I know who some of you are . . . but who is Lydia? And Karen = xnera, neh?

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

Lydia is Miro, and Karen is indeed Xnera. [Smile]

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

I like how Rivka signs her invitation "Rivka from Hatrack" to, you know, make sure we don't confuse her with all the other Rivkas we know. [Razz]

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

[Big Grin]

It made sense at midnight! [Dont Know]

Posted by Miro (Member # 1178) on :

Yep, I'm Lydia.

(I was about to post, 'I'm Miro,' but then I realized that would be pointless [Smile] )

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

And I just queued up 13 Going on 30 (which I had wanted to see but forgot about) based on it being on your list. I like this feature! [Big Grin]

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

[Confused] I was thinking Jennifer = GoodyScrivener, but she only gave Mary Poppins 4 stars.

Posted by Goody Scrivener (Member # 6742) on :

Goody is Jennifer and I don't know why I gave MP only 4, since it's the earliest movie I can remember ever seeing.... must go fix that soon!(edit: I was probably intending to rate something else with 4 stars and missed... only logical thing I can think of)

Ok, cool. [Smile] I just thought there was an earlier post where someone asked if you had given it five and you said you had.

Posted by Tater (Member # 7035) on :

Oh, how I want to sign up for Netflix. But I hate the idea of giving out all that information online. [Grumble]

Posted by VĂ¡na (Member # 6593) on :

We just started Netflix about a week ago, and now I've sent invites to all of you people. It's my e-mail address but Dan's name.
